The fact she wasn’t dq’d only shows that you are wrong. The fact that you continue to believe you are right demonstrates who the stubborn person really is. The fact that you think there is some conspiracy to favor a blonde Australian in a sport where Wast Africans are allowed to dominate shows you don’t recognize reality. I said at the time that it happened that Garcia would be dq’d and not Hull, and I was absolutely right. So perhaps I’m the one who has followed this sport far longer and is more knowledgeable, especially compared to a poster who only registered yesterday.
Your first sentence shows you aren’t very bright. There is a case to be made to DQ Hull and a case to let girls be girls. But Hull overreacted and destroyed the race of the defending champ. I could defend her or prosecute her. I am fine with the result but Hull is not walking away with clean hands here.
Ok Einstein, he claimed there was an actual conspiracy to not dq Hull. When I asked for evidence, his response amounted to “I know better than everyone else.” So if you support his claims, what is your evidence for this great conspiracy? The fact that there may have been incidents in the past where other runners weren’t dq’d doesn’t support his claim that there is a specific conspiracy to favor Hull. Surely someone of you dazzling intellect can come up with a better case than that so let’s hear it.
I'm a Jakob fan. He's an intriguing character and his story plainly doesn't quite fit the more common general patterns of East African or American distance runners. I hope he gets back to fitness.
And yes, I hope anyone winning a "Jakob-free" championship in the meantime is enjoying it while it lasts. Spread around the joy, even if he know the 2024 WC 5000 and 2025 WIC 3000 were missing the main character. (For those who follow chess, it's kind of like winning the World Chess Championship while Magnus Carlsen isn't playing for it.)
Somehow Magnus Carlsen is the douchiest comparison you could have made. Color me impressed.
Congratulations to Kerr! He talked the talk and backed it up. Great comeback from injury.
Hocker's silver will be seen as disappointment or reason to mock him, depending on if someone is a fan or a hater. But he's now won a medal in four straight global finals. Two golds, two silvers.
Schrub gets a nice birthday weekend present with his first global championship medal. It caps an amazing past three months for him in which he's finished 11th at World XC, ran under 7:30 for the first time, and ran 26:43 on the roads (beating Almgren).
Thrilling race!
Hocker will.be disappointed but hopefully he can contextualise this race over the course of the season. It's f*cking hard to win gold against this level of competition. No one runs away with championship races over the 1500, 3000, and 5000, they're decided by tenths and hundredths of a second. Just consistently picking up medals is impressive and proves you aren't a flash in the pan. Hocker took his licks today but he lost to a two-time Olympic medallist and a two-time world champion, not some B-teamer

I am not discussing a conspiracy. Can you not grasp that if I never mentioned a conspiracy that to demand I defend one shows that you are intellectually dishonest?

He gave a decent interview; sounds like the shuffling/argy bargy towards the end spooked him a bit and he played it safe. Kerr's interview was good, too!

Weird comment for at least two reasons:
- You are making up ad hominem rankings of knowledge, rather than discussing the facts.
- You seem to think that duration of registration on LetsRun is the defining marker of a person's track and field knowledge. 🤣
- Earlier in this thread you showed total ignorance of the basic mechanics of pole vault competition, yet continued to argue your incorrect point; you clearly lake the humility to rein in your pronouncements. Dunning Kruger much?
I can’t believe I have to actually explain the pole vault issue. I’ll try and respond using small words. I wasn’t saying that Mondo was literally ahead in this specific competition by half a meter. I know how the pole vault (and every other event) works. My point was that NBC was cutting away from the 3,000m to show some random guy pole vault who had no chance of even competing with Mondo because Mondo is so much better than him and every other pole vaulter on the planet. My point was that it was a waste of time cutting away from the 3000m. This is something nearly every poster on this thread would agree with. I’m shocked someone with your claimed expertise can’t understand basic literacy devices.
What you call ad hominem attacks are nothing more than responses to your own claims. Try and keep up.

Then maybe you don’t belong in this part of the thread because that is Middling Distance’s claim. Again, as you are such a genius I would expect you to understand this.

Total straw man argument.
It doesn't take a "conspiracy" for a foul be let go when the call comes down to officials' judgment.
It doesn't take a genius to know there is no point in appealing when officials have already exercised that judgement.
Listen. This isn't like someone stepping inside the line in the in the 4x100, the officials missing it, and the losing team pointing it out with incontrovertible visual evidence. It's a judgement call, which is common to all sports with physical contact. Even if 9/10 times that call would go one way, there would have to be an extraordinary reason to overturn the decision after the officials have already reviewed the replay.
It's not really controversial. The officials observed the issue, reviewed the replay, and chose who to DQ and not DQ. (Certainly influenced by the fact that one of the runners under judgement went on to a clear bronze medal.)
I don't know why OED is weirdly making this a race thing.

You really are not very bright. I think Hull should have been DQd. Are you really too stupid to grasp this, and that I don’t have to agree with every claim made by any other poster who agrees with me on this? Did you ever go to school? You sure are being schooled here.

You: “it doesn’t take a conspiracy”
Also you: “Hull is protected, especially as a medalist in the race. No chance of the golden girl losing silver for a DQ that is borderline to fans. (Even if it's clear to people with knowledge.)” See post #195.
You know what, I’ve never been a big fan of Kerr- admittedly for not entirely rational reasons. Don’t like the sunglasses indoors, don’t like the haircut, really really don’t like some of the ballix he comes out with in interviews.
But all that said, what a brilliant, brilliant racer. That was a masterclass. He always delivers when it matters most, fair play to him.

I'll take "strawman argument" for 500, Alex!
🤣
No "conspiracy" at all. That's what you fail to understand. None is needed.
This was application of a "let them race; racing is rubbing" approach to Hull's shove. And which any close follower of the sport know is not always applied with consistency.
That was a DQ in 9/10 circumstances.
Jess Hull, a multi-time global medalist placing second in the WIC, is a special circumstance.
No idea why OED is talking about Hull being blonde. Weird.
