Anyone think Hoare was out front trying to work the legs out of the runners to help Nuguse push and kick late? Granted no one else went with him (Hoare), but also looked as if he fine letting Yared pass but then held firm in his lane for everyone else.
I don’t think so. Yared tried to say good job or whatever to Olli after and he sort of blew him off. He didn’t look happy. I’m assuming after running another 3:50 last week and losing to Ky who isn’t a miler/1500m guy put a chip on his shoulder. He keeps talking on the coffee club pod that his workouts are going really well and he thinks he’s in the shape of his life, but just hasn’t been able to put it together in a race.
Anyway, really happy for Yared. A shame it was such a slow race, but when diamond league points and the path to Tokyo is in play, it becomes more championship-style. Sucks for Hobbs, I think he just was boxed in and at that point there really wasn’t anywhere to go.
Do we know if Kerr or Hocker will bother with the DL final? Only person I can see being at Nugese's level there would be P. Koech, and maybe Laros if he's healthy.
Neither Kerr nor Hocker is running the DL final. I'd have Phanuel Koech and a healthy Laros favored over Nuguse in Zurich. Possibly Jonah Koech as well, but TBD if he runs it. Nuguse definitely has a chance, though.
It was Bol's 29th consecutive victory, still undefeated in DL. Her 3rd fastest time.

Can someone tell me when the last time Olli had a good race tho? He’s very quickly becoming an “also ran” in all these races. Even low key, no hype meets I feel like he can’t pull off the win. Training is one thing but putting it all together in a race is another. Is it still mental health that’s causing this?
I think if Nuguse does what he does today in the dl final, he will win. Nuguse kick is very underrated, especially when he doesn’t lead at all. In the Olympics he probably had the best last 50m. He also has the best lean ever imo so that helps if it comes down to that.
Also just saw Reynold Cheruiyot ran a 12.1 final 100 in that 1500! Dude closes like a train but he was boxed in on the last lap and not close enough to use that kick.
Good job by Nuguse getting to the lead with 200 to go. When he felt Nordas coming on his outside, he responded decisively.

Hoare won the mile at the London DL meet last year. The next three finishers after him were Nordas, Mechaal, and Laros.

She has 3 weeks to tighten up speed work. She did run earlier this week so training is probably still heavy. That was a strength run and not due to leg turnover

Expected way more from Sutherland. Almost 3 seconds slower than her PB from two months ago.
She pulled out of the meet in Hungary a few days ago with some kind of physical problem, so she was obviously not ready today. She looked good in her last two races over 400 flat.
