Amaya Bhardwaj is def going to NxN after that performance: 17:03! 2nd Brook Lee (Archie Williams) 17:18. Giselle Fernandez 17:23. Top 3 all NorCal in the small championship race. Saint Francis SJS with the team win
She looked so powerful, smooth and fast. Her last mile was 5:15 by herself.
She may have a shot at the Crystal Spring record if she goes for it later this year.
CCS female runners are usually 20 to 30 seconds faster at Crystal Spring than they do at Woodward Park, Bhardwaj just ran 22 seconds faster at Woodward than she did at Crystal Spring 3 days ago.
Great statement at the post race interview. Last year I was #2 to my teammate Kinga, who's at Cornell now and that really humble me.
And many thanks to HD runners for showing the meet for free.
17:03 with a 5:15 last is flying. New CCS woodward record. Old record was by Cate Ratliff, who ran 16:45 on Crystal. Amaya seems to be in similar, if not better shape.
You joined letsrun 10 years ago and are on the Cornell team?
No official time yet, but I'm pretty sure Palo Alto's Amaya Bharadwaj just ran a 17:25/26 at Crystal Spring a couple hours ago. In the few years I've watched HS races there, I don't think I've seen a faster time from a girl. Curious what she can do this Saturday at Clovis...
The course record for Crystal is 16:30, if you can believe that.

Go to 1:33:00 and listen to a Bhardwaj's interview and it'll answer your question and straighten out your mind.
The weekend of championship races was highlighted by the historic course record set by Jackson Spencer of Herriman (Utah) in the Rob Brenner Boys Championship.

hdRunners was started by a parent (Tom) in Pomona. He has funded the outfit for over a decade now with I think 2 or 3 full time employees, equipment, facility. While they have a YT channel, the compensation is nowhere enough to support the operation. I had heard that his philosophy is to capture for posterity all who made it through XC. And available at no cost on YT.
I first met Mike (the man-in-charge) of hdRunners back in 2022 because he was curious about my initial primitive version of the bikecam. We ended up covering CIF SS Prelims and Finals (but not the entire course as that mountain bike converted to e-bike didn't have enough range or power to climb the Switchbacks or Poop Out Hill).
In the old days, hdRunners used to set out like 30 cameras along the course and then edited together.
In the last two years, they have made many changes including social media engagements, drones (also obtaining the FAA part 107 License); Starlink for livestreaming; 4K cameras and PoMan bikecam (at most invitationals). These changes I believe are moving the sport forward in promoting the sports to the youths.
For the Clovis invite they had to get to Woodward Park on Wednesday to set up and finish it all up on Thursday afternoon. Then it was a 4AM wake up time on Friday and Sat to get ready for the first race at 7:15 am each day.
Watch out for the Cruz twins from Westlake who are only freshman. Sabina Cruz, the less talented of the twins, finished second in Ventura County behind Curtis. Her more talented sister, Anais, unfortunately missed the meet.
The twins ran casually in middle school but they only started training seriously a few months ago. They have a lot of upside.

Possibly daughters of Tyree Cruz; former Ventura coach?
