Okay, I’ll admit I could be wrong, but I’ve heard it both ways, so I’ll have to do some more research. I’d prefer if she change the spelling of her name to match the pronunciation.
10th player on an NBA roster? Try 8th in the world for his event. 10k USA national champion. 3rd fastest American all time, 11th to break 13 indoors or out, and you compare him to the 10th player on a roster? Please put some respect on Joe Klecker's name
All right, best I go to sleep. Klecker is super solid. Let’s say he’s Andrew Wiggins. Curry or Klay, no chance. That’s still amazing, yes. When Fisher out kicked Mo last year and ran 26:33, that was a revelation. It was like, damn, Fisher is world class. We’ve been hearing all season that Klecker has been targeting this race, so yes, I expected more. Maybe not an AR, but solidly sub 27. If none of you are underwhelmed, more power to you.
Well indoors is often a tease in a candle light dinner. Don’t fall for a tease. Take her outdoors and see what she looks like under the sun’s rays.
Guy that did Tokyo marathon earlier tonight was excellent. Tons of relevant information, no fluff, not obsessed with his persona, his sense of humor, and the sound of own voice.
These things all really set him apart from major network types, Citius, Flotrack, Merrill, et al.
What sets Merrill apart from the rest is that he's not a polished professional, but the races tonight (as one example of his work) gave nearly 70% of the broadcast revenue to the athletes. I'll take his rough edges every time if that's the outcome.
New PR for Natosha Rogers. She’s moving up to the ‘Thon in the fall, but assume she will try to make US team in the 10k for Worlds. More competitive this year now with Henes.
A few too many bourbons tonight, but you’re either in it to win, or it’s just a side show. Yes, Klecker is a super solid US distance runner, but that’s the curse, then it’s all about the next level. What’s the goal? In your minds eye you can see Fisher medaling. Joe? No chance. Of course he’s amazing, but do we spend lots of time discussing guys who are the 10th player on an NBA roster?
You’re right honestly. If you’re not in the top 3 at any event on the world level you shouldn’t be training.
Idk why the NCAA exists, what’s the point of all these athletes who are sooooo slow running and trying to develop when they’re clearly not even in the top 5 globally?
Pro groups are even worse- these runners are so far back from winning a gold. They need to hang up the spikes. Such a disgrace to the sport, they’re why no one likes track.
Monson goes from 3000i AR to 10000 AR in two weeks...America has a new Distance Queen.
And McColgan has really paid her dues and made it pay off. Reminiscent of Levins' journey . I wonder what she has done different the last year. Her unusual form is at the same time surreal and fun to watch.
It's the last 2.5 years for McColgan when she decided to make the step up in distance. She's been ticking off all the British records from 5000 to HM on the track and roads. That's not easy when the previous holder in all cases was a genuine legend, Paula Radcliffe.
Even so, this one was a surprise given she's in marathon training. The last lap wasn't a surprise if you saw her Commonwealth gold last year, and she has always been a decent 1500 runner.
30-flat FTW is awesome work. She's not done with the track just yet
It is worrisome against Beatrice Chebet, who is figuring it out more and more every race and Tsegay. Gidey is not a huge kicker, so then it comes down to whether Hassan is truly back. From there yeah Monsons not a big kicker but it’s not like Taye, Kipkemboi, Seyaum and so on always are the most consistent either. I wouldn’t give up on a medal at all unless Hassan is back as a lock and Chebet becomes Vivian Cheruiyot 2.0.
I agree. If Ritz gets her taper right for Budapest, she should be among the top 6 or 7 podium contenders in the 10. Then it's just a matter of who brings it on the day.
World champs will not be time trial and she will get her @ss handed to her over rhe last mile.

great performances by Henes & Rodgers only missing World stdrd by 9". unfortunately the new qualifying rules letting in 8 XC qualifiers means they won't be going to Budapest unless they can run <30:40 before the deadline. Ridiculous!!

Yes, that's a problem Monson & Ritz will have to solve. As it goes....

Just looked at the splits and McColgan was 3 seconds faster over the final lap. That's another level. Brutal. And it only gets harder at Worlds when the world-class kickers like Hassan and Obiri enter the field

. . . which suddenly makes the 10ks at the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford on April 21-22 much more important than they appeared to be up until tonight.
With 7 more weeks of training, those ladies who couldn't quite get to 30:40 tonight will have a very good opportunity to do so then . . . and still have plenty of time to recover and prepare for USAs in early July.
Shocking turn of events that. Someone speculate that his dropping out was because he was unsponsored and living with a lot of external pressures. He's now sponsored and he's still dropping out of races. There's a very good chance that the UK won't send a single man to Budapest in the 5000 or 10000.

That's funny coming from someone who gave himself an unpronouncable name just to be a douche.
Holy crap. Seeing eilish separate was outer worldly. craziest stride length I’ve ever seen
Your not old enough to remember her mother? Because as crazy as her running form looks, she is a splitting image of her mother who ran the same way. I guess it runs in the family. That and tons of talent.
