Wow. Kipyegon looked like she was holding it in all the way till 150m to go, if she had gone earlier I think she could have WRed. That finishing speed was incredible and props to the pacemaking for making this happen
And people say Hassan is doping, she looked like she was working hard. The winner? Not-so-much.

Welp the US has zero chance in the 1500—wow.
While I think Kipyegon is a gold medal lock, Hailu is beatable by Purrier today shows, I doubt we see Hassan in the 1500 now, and Muir has to not screw up her tactics.

Yes, that probably would have been a world record, except that she didn't realize how fast she was running, so she didn't make her move earlier.
Why no purrier in that race? Would have been interesting to see what she could have done
Hassan, lol. Of course no real kicking ability, like a skeleton rattling around the track.

Ah, the same way the 3:28/12:50 guy looked after both races. Not gassed in the least.

Right now Muir is on the phone with UK Athletics begging them to let her switch to the 800!
Don’t think so - can’t see muir medaling in a championship 800m race. Silver or bronze in the 1500m looks possible though.

I think she was content and focused on beating Hassan here, sitting and kicking off her, after losing to her earlier this year.

Prediction - The top times in 2022 will be much slower than the top times in 2020/2021, because of increased drug testing in 2022.
I don't think it would have been a world record, she was still a full second off (3:50.07), and Hassan was slowing down which made her look like she was accelerating more than she was

Purrier very much has a chance for bronze. Maybe silver if Hassan tired from the 5000m and 1500m heats and Tsegay falters...

She should have known the race was being paced for something very fast. If she was not aware that a WR was in play, there is nobody to blame but herself. This race was alwasy going to be historically fast. It should surprise no one. Least of all somebody who was trying to win that race.

she closed the final 1500 of the 10k at worlds in 3:59 but ok, also 2:04 close in her mile world record.
A second is a lot. I don't think she would've broken the WR. But an amazing run.

Your forgetting Muir - significantly better than purrier

What happened with Cory McGee? She went for it and looked great though 1200, must've been a rough last 400. Didn't even break 4:04 I think.

Tsegay is not running the 1500. After today, it seems less likeely Hassan will, either.
BAKER!!!
Crowd shocked by the 100, the weird false start callback threw everyone’s start off i think. Still, plenty of time till Tokyo
