I'm the most worst coach. I want a job because I want to ruin it for everyone. I feel I deserve a shot since other awful coaches get hired. What the ())**&*&(()&%$$ is this bull%%&*((*^*T^T?

How can I be so bad and yet I don't get hire? They are supposed to hire the worst. I'm the worst. Hire me

I have no ncaa experience. I coach at a public school, I've had no one qualify, nobody scores in the state, we are last place.

Shouldn't I be getting hired at college jobs?

I actually coach DivI you moron. I've coached 7 distance/mid-distance athletes to 21 AA honors in 6 yrs between XC/in/out. I did apply for the job and didn't even get a call. What have you done? What has Kent done?

That's a bit low. I'm at about 25 applications with 4 interviews and one offer in 3yrs. I have assistant coaching only experience, but for the right schools.

But certainly is very competitive.

All these coaches on this site talking real reckless about other coaches. I hope none of you get a job in this profession, because some of you lack decency. Focus on the positive.....

As mentioned earlier, it not what you know but who you know. You should start with volunteering and network while at meets. Most head coaches are jerks and only want someone under them who will kiss their butts. You can win them the national championship and get fired the next day because they don't trust you anymore or they are thinking you are trying to take their program. These are the insecure ones who are very dangerous, they hire new inexperienced coaches every two years.

who can afford to live in Atlanta anywhere safe on what a mid major assistant makes? Having coached in GA before at the D1 level it is hard to keep any talent in state if you aren't UGA in the sprints/jumps area as every other state in the country poaches GA. My guess is they also aren't given enough $$ to work with outside of XC/Distance with having a distance head coach.

GA State finished 2nd at outdoor conference. That's pretty good for $$ only tied up in distance.

This is my opinion is a great hire by Air Force. I'd like to see them become a major factor in a couple of years and with a young and persistent recruiter they just may get there. It should be a lot easier to recruit to AF then ASU fro distance runners assuming they want to go into the military and can get into school.

Are you kidding? Arizona State has been in the dumps the past 5 yrs, of which Ryan has been overseeing the women the past 3. There's no reason for this, given their rich tradition. A lot easier to recruit to Air Force over Arizona State? The fact it's the Air Force would actually be a turn off for a lot of people. Sorry, not impressed- Ryan had everything at ASU, and he didn't get it done.

I believe she is either married to or engaged to the former Yale coach who just got hired as HC at Troy.

Would potentially explain why the former Troy throws coach just took another job if she is replacing him.

"Extra, Extra, read all about it" A poor disgruntled coach who did not receive the Air Force job over a deserving coach comes to letsrun to bash.

ASU is not an easy place to recruit distance runners too. Who likes 5:30 A.M. practices when there in college? Ryan seemed to be able to recruit decently. Ryan did take the reins at ASU 3 years ago when there was hardly a Pac-10 scorer on the team and now they have a national champ. The womans team will be very competitive this year and Louie should have Ryan to thank for that. The from 2007 when Ryan arrived he did not have control and the womans program was spiriling out of control, Ryan has brought them back to life.
