I am 52, and this sort of news rarely if ever surprises me. However, I continue to be "saddened and disappointed" that today's athletes lack the morality, sense of fair play, self-respect, and respect for their sports that is required to compete clean.
I am "saddened and disappointed" to know that my own children - one who is a distance runner and one who is a cyclist - will likely never realize success beyond high school unless they stoop to PED use in order to "maintain a level playing field." I hope they are never compelled to sink to that level, no matter the temptation.
I am "saddened and disappointed" that no one can achieve any level of success these days without immediately being suspected of cheating. This message board alone is proof that no great effort or achievement is taken at face value anymore. And usually with good reason.
This particular state of T&F is but a microcosm of what we know about people in general: Mankind sucks!
What? Today's athletes?
They weren't clean in your era either. Athletes have never been clean.
The East Germans in the 60s and 70s...track cyclists in the 20s and 30s..Americans in the 80s and 90s
I really don't understand your narrative.
