There are three people on my Facebook feed this morning defending this guy. They are linking to the RW story and calling the decision unfair and complaining that the MCM will deter runners from signing up for future races. One person wrote "Is this how you treat your customers?" Hahaha.

You forgot to mention they were threatened with legal action by Rossi. He called their bluff with a letter from his retired lawyer Grimes and did the same to the Brojos. MCM Price hasn't threatened legal action and wouldn't have a leg to stand on anyway.

It also shows how we dilettante runners are so vain that nothing but the marathon is a running race.
It's possible that he could have competed fairly and effectively at another, shorter distance...
But, he just couldn't breakaway from that Boston cult.
And no non-runner would ever ask him in a store someplace whether he raced in 10K's.

The message board on Letsrun does not equate to FB. Letsrun posters were tremendously restrained in being helpful but respectful in relation to the LVM race committee's "investigation". There may have been one or two polite posts on Facebook, asking when they would make their decision on Rossi known, but the tone was 100% civil towards them. Everybody was under the assumption that VIA would make the obvious correct decision and DQ Rossi.
Then, the LVM put out their statement, which made it clear that zero investigation had actually occurred and they were taking the easy way out. That's when the sh*t hit the fan - both here as well as on Facebook.
In hindsight, if we had been more forceful on their Facebook page, prior to them digging in their heels, they likely wouldn't have tried to sweep the matter under the rug.

I don't feel like going back through the Rossi thread, but I suspect that they come at a point where it was becoming increasingly clear that the race committee was trying to avoid responding to the issue. They had been given all of the relevant information about Rossi's cheating many days, if not several weeks prior and had promised to release a statement by the end of the month. If I recall correctly, the marathon finally released its statement several days into the new month (later than they had promised). I also seem to recall that they released it on a Friday evening so that it would hopefully bypass the news agencies. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. Prior to the statement, the only criticism levelled at VIA on this thread was that it was rather unprofessional for a Boston-qualifier race to not have any timing mats along the course, apart from the start and finish. After the non-DQ, VIA became a target for criticism - both on the forum, as well as other social media - and justifiably so.Hope that clears things up for you.

Ah no, you misunderstood those quotes. They were directly related to facebook posts from the Rossi Hate Group in May, encouraging each other to "create more pressure" on facebook to get a DQ - go to pages 195/6 and see for yourself. Or not. The Rossi stuff is water down the bridge anyways.
MCM Price is okay in my book. His version of what happened seem sincere and he made his amends. The damage is minuscule except for that accidental age group placement. It is not the end of the world. He is not a delusional liar like Kip and Rossi.
I do wonder if Troy University Greg Price figured out that he has been outed on LR. Him I think will go along the line of Kip and Rossi. Nobody comes off telling epic stories like that without a lot of practice and denial.
