What a terrible idea. Even at nationals, the tail end of the talent distribution pool is so poor that it'd take way too long.

Over an hour since the men's race finished and still no results posted? This is sad. Pretty much every other XC has results online within a few minutes of the race's conclusion.

I would argue that there's a difference between a good, fast race and a good, fast finish. This year, we had one plucky runner go out way too hard. The lead pack ignored her, caught her, and stayed together with absolutely no excitement. Nothing happened until the last 50 meters, when it came down to the milers.

Your best arguments are that it would take too long and the field is not as deep? The first statement sounds as if you must be milers yourselves. XC is a long distance event. Expecting high school boys to move from a 5k to an 8/10k is natural for the development of a runner. Why should girls not have the same expectation? Milers should not be dominating XC Nationals, and the "step up" from 5k to 6k does not follow the natural development of female distance runners.

Scores will not be released until a 30 minute protest period expires. That protest period does not begin until the finish of the women's race.

False. While I agree that results should be posted, cross country dies as a sport because almost every single meet takes such a long time to get full results posted. No other sport is like it when it comes to having results take more than a minute to be posted.

So typical. Coach Metcalf tells them they won, beating out Villanova. He forgot that Georgetown and other teams were in the same race (LOL). Actually I feel sorry for his team getting so excited about their non-win, and then finding out the real results.

If they can release unofficial results on the broadcast and at the meet, if they can hand the Wisconsin men's team the trophy and put up that they are NCAA champions on NCAA.com, they can post the unofficial results online and amend to the official results when they do become official.

Also, why is the men's protest period tied to the women's race?

When the f*ck are the doosh bags at NCAA going to post the men's XC results and where?

Awful coverage (they focused 95% of the coverage of an American collegiate championship on ONE runner, Lalang, who isn't even an American runner! hat about the other 250 or so runners? Very poor coverage. Flotrack would have done a far better job.

One, way to selectively quote to totally warp the meaning of my post. Saying I'm disappointed that GF seems to have lost his competitive drive and quest for glory is not denigrating anyone. I'm not sure why I'm letting you get my goat here, so I'll let it go.

Last thing: you should really stop self-righteously telling people to grow up, calling people ignorant (total misuse of the word there, by the way - why don't you save that for someone who doesn't know where Libya is, or who thinks women aren't capable of racing a 10k), etc. I guess our opinions differ, but why not argue that he was running as hard as he was capable instead of launching a personal attack? This is sports. Spectators dissect sports and hold athletes to high standards of performance. It's not a big deal. We're talking about a game here.

If they have the results posted at the meet, it is indefensible that they aren't online.
