Could you move to another thread to continue your speculations about how Jacob would have run and how Hocker's tactics were? The race is over already and there's a lot more happening in Torun.
I agree time doesn't matter in championships, but the point is that Jakob could close in those times front running. (Because the pacer was gone the last 1000m). Nothing about their closing kick would show that they could be Ingebrigtsen or even be close

Did the Ethiopians appeal? They had the 4th placed AND it was on Hailu so they definitely should’ve. Hull has plausible deniability, which you are not recognizing. She was pushed into it and extending your hand out is a natural reaction.
Right, so the officials, commentators, and all the posters on here who watched the race are wrong, but you alone are right because of some conspiracy in track to protect Hull? Please share your evidence.
The evidence is Hull shoving a runner to the ground and not being disqualified.
You are just being stubborn here. Like when I explained to you that a vaulter can never be "half a meter behind" another and you briefly resisted.
DQs are not consistent indoors. And the inconsistency reliably spare medalists in a championship meet. (There are many examples if you actually follow this sport.)
Not a bad thing; I say let them run. But it's a simple fact that this move would be a DQ in 9/10 instances that aren't executed en route to a WC medal.
The fact she wasn’t dq’d only shows that you are wrong. The fact that you continue to believe you are right demonstrates who the stubborn person really is. The fact that you think there is some conspiracy to favor a blonde Australian in a sport where Wast Africans are allowed to dominate shows you don’t recognize reality. I said at the time that it happened that Garcia would be dq’d and not Hull, and I was absolutely right. So perhaps I’m the one who has followed this sport far longer and is more knowledgeable, especially compared to a poster who only registered yesterday.

Jakob makes it a different style of race. But if he’d run as passively as last year, he would’ve been in trouble. The top 3 today all easily clear Aregawis final lap.

Hope these guys are enjoying their Jakob-free season. Because watching such a slow win will drive Jakob crazy and he'll be coming for a sub-12:30 5000 soon enough.
Has Jakob ever won a 3,000m championship race in faster than 7:35? Nope, not even under 7:40.
Garbage take. Kerr had nothing to do with the pace as Hocker + 2 Ethiopians are the whole reason why the race was finished in 7:35. Jakob closed faster at the DL final a day after running a 3:43.73 Mile in a race 12 seconds faster. Just stop with this nonsense it wouldn't be close.
Congratulations to Kerr! He talked the talk and backed it up. Great comeback from injury.
Hocker's silver will be seen as disappointment or reason to mock him, depending on if someone is a fan or a hater. But he's now won a medal in four straight global finals. Two golds, two silvers.
Schrub gets a nice birthday weekend present with his first global championship medal. It caps an amazing past three months for him in which he's finished 11th at World XC, ran under 7:30 for the first time, and ran 26:43 on the roads (beating Almgren).

How is it garbage? What evidence do you have that Jakob would’ve made a faster race than 7:35? History shows he’d be happy like everyone else was with the first 2,000.

Kerr is a championship racer. Jakob tends to do best in DL situations with lights and pacers. The evidence shows this. I know which I admire most - racing and tactics are hard to get right consistently. Those that do are impressive in my opinion.
It will be good to get him back in the mix but he’s had a lot of injuries recently…
Just stop. It doesn't matter if today was a championship race because he had nothing to do with the pace. Jakob won the DL final in 7:23.63 a day after the 3:43 mile and he closed faster than Kerr today. I'm not trying to discredit Kerr at all but when you compare him to the GOAT 3k runner Kerr has to be 2nd. He is still the best right now tactically but just stop with these comparisons.

“Jakob Derangement Syndrome”
I'm a Jakob fan. He's an intriguing character and his story plainly doesn't quite fit the more common general patterns of East African or American distance runners. I hope he gets back to fitness.
And yes, I hope anyone winning a "Jakob-free" championship in the meantime is enjoying it while it lasts. Spread around the joy, even if he know the 2024 WC 5000 and 2025 WIC 3000 were missing the main character. (For those who follow chess, it's kind of like winning the World Chess Championship while Magnus Carlsen isn't playing for it.)

Your first sentence shows you aren’t very bright. There is a case to be made to DQ Hull and a case to let girls be girls. But Hull overreacted and destroyed the race of the defending champ. I could defend her or prosecute her. I am fine with the result but Hull is not walking away with clean hands here.

You can’t say what someone ‘could’ theoretically do. He wasn’t there. Races like this are hard to predict. Tactics very much come in to play. Not who is the fastest on paper.

He wouldn't, we already know he'd close faster than Kerr because he already did in a race that was faster where he wasn't even fresh. It's so obvious. Yes, Jakob's prime is in the past and Kerr is the present. Whatever, these comparisons are so hilariously stupid. You guys are such clowns.

Jesus. Do you think I was the one who brought up Jakob who wasn’t even there? It’s ridiculous to keep talking about him. You stop!

The issue is that Hull pushed the defending champ to the ground with force, as she obviously, in a split second, flexed up for maximum push. It was outrageous. Hull should have been DQd, and her actions make me question even more how she could possibly be clean with this behavior.
Someone please post a replay of this race if possible.

Weird comment for at least two reasons:
- You are making up ad hominem rankings of knowledge, rather than discussing the facts.
- You seem to think that duration of registration on LetsRun is the defining marker of a person's track and field knowledge. 🤣
- Earlier in this thread you showed total ignorance of the basic mechanics of pole vault competition, yet continued to argue your incorrect point; you clearly lake the humility to rein in your pronouncements. Dunning Kruger much?
