A Chinese car doesn't count as a car you can buy in the US. I think that's pretty simple.
If you want to buy a car today that can drive itself, Tesla is the only option. You don't live in China, right?
I've been saying from the beginning that if anyone is going to catch up to Tesla it will be a Chinese company and not a legacy automaker.
You guys are funny. If a Chinese made car doesn't count because I can't buy one in USA, then stop saying Tesla sold a million cars last year. They only sold around 300k cars in USA. A Chinese made Tesla doesn't count because I can't buy one.
My quote was about cars you can buy that can drive themselves. Tesla is the only one. You can't buy a Chinese car if you live in the US.
The conversation about who will be the top EV seller is a different matter.
Tesla is opening its supercharger network of electric-vehicle chargers up to non-Tesla EVs.What’s more, the news about this was scooped by the White House. A White House memo says that the network will become available to tho...
Speaking of Chinese cars, Tesla is killing it in China as well. Here are June sales numbers. Despite the Tesla costing several times more than the top competitors, Tesla still outsells them.
MY is a hot seller. This chart of June sales # in 🇨🇳 shows MY dominates all vehicle types, ICE or EV w/ 52,150 units delivered. MY starts at ¥316,900. The 2nd best seller starts at ¥74.800 & the 3rd at ¥32.800. Corolla takes 4th spot w/ 33,198 units sold, starting at ¥76.800. pic.twitter.com/eH9Ywh4P87
Yes, this is really good for the EV revolution and should be a significant source of revenue for Tesla.
You have to pay to use a fast charger? I'll probably never use then. I charge for free at work.
With Tesla allowing non-Tesla owners to use the fast chargers now there will undoubtedly be long lines at the fast chargers around the country. Fat Hurts' road trips will be spend waiting in line at the fast charger stations.

Hopefully his Tesla has a DVD player in it. He and his family can watch a couple of movies while they wait to charge the car.

So you think Tesla doesn't know how to plan for that?
Allowing non-Teslas to charge at superchargers requires new charging equipment and/or retrofits. Tesla will roll this out slowly in such a way that it will not cause congestion.
Also, Tesla's software is far superior to other charging networks. Tesla's network knows who is planning to stop at which stations and when they will get there. So when you are on a road trip it automatically routes you to stations where there will be less congestion.

You always paint the rosiest picture of what is going on with Tesla. But you can not hide your eyes on some things. Like the picture Gary showed of a mile-long line of Teslas waiting to charge their Teslas.

That's another thing a Tesla can do that other cars can't. It has streaming services built right into the car.
So I can sit in my car and watch YouTube/NetFlix/Hulu/Disney+/etc on the large screen. It also has video games built in. And the sound system is awesome.
This comes in really handy when my wife wants to stop in for some shopping and I'd rather not go into the store. I just sit in the car and watch streaming in air conditioned (or heated) comfort.
You wouldn't usually do this in a gas car because you'd use lots of expensive fuel and you would risk breathing the fumes.

That was a very rare event. It was a long time ago and Tesla has gotten better at solving the congestion problem since then.
But l see long lines at Sam's Club gas stations every time I go there. People wait an extra half hour or more just to save a few cents per gallon. And they waste more gas while waiting!
Meanwhile, I never waste my time at a gas station because I charge my car at home.

Everyone loves driving far out of their way for things.

You don't drive out of your way. You just might stop at a different charging station. It is able to tell an hour or two beforehand which station will be crowded. Then Tesla has you stop accordingly.

To be fair, you were still telling folks to buy when it was over $1,200 per share.
No I wasn't.
But I do think that in under 4 years, we will see $3,000. So if you have a long time horizon, you would still see a very good return at $1,200 a share.
Of course, we are about to see a 3 for 1 stock split soon. I'm talking about prices before the split.
$650 was a really, really good price. We might not see that again.

Got it. So you drive out of your way.
You don't got it at all.
There is no driving out of the way. You just might stop at a different exit.
