This is dumb. Russia used its Navy extensively at the beginning of the war to threaten Odessa and long after that to launch missiles and blockade Ukrainian ports. Now they can't do that and Ukrainian grain exports are nearly back to pre-war levels. That has huge economic and strategic implications.

As a vet and current reservist I can tell you, Ukraine does not have strong ground forces or the political ability to out beg Russia's production capability. In the best of times, all the support Ukraine got never matched Russia's output. And those best of times are over. Ukraine will never have the advantage. Hard reality.

Kiev is also confirming their defeat in Avdiivka.
The lesson learned by Syrskyi, after making the same mistake in Bakhmut and now Avdiivka is, don't send reinforcements. Let cities fall to Russia to save lives. Standing and fighting results in loss. Ukraine is not able to stand and fight with Russia.

Avdiivka is gone. Total capitulation.
Syrskyi states they will return to Avdiivka. They won't.
They never returned to Bakhmut or Mariupol. Bakhmut outskirts keep losing more and more territory far outside the city now, overtaking new villages and soon cities as Russian control keeps spreading outward. Syrskyi's evacuation came way too late for Avdiivka. There are thousand of trapped soldiers still. The Coke plant is full of Azov who are stuck. It is the Azovstal steel plant - Mariupol fiasco all over again, plus thousands of others.
This is a COMPLETE disaster for Ukraine.

The House takes a 2 week recess to let the futility of future battles work against Ukraine funding. They will return at the end of February with a better understanding of how useless Ukraine is against Russia.
