Indeed--Washington State is becoming a dumpster fire. Brad Walker got out for completely unrelated reasons.

BTW, who bids for an NCAA regional cross country meet THE DAY BEFORE Dad's Weekend when hotels are at a premium, and where there are few flights out of Pullman/Moscow regional airport, unless you think you can somehow get to/from Spokane on a dicey 2-lane road?

We know you will to a good job. You won't have any problems recruiting against CU as they seldom recruit Colorado athletes .Gotta watch out for UCCS, they have a lock on Colorado high school T&F.

If you are a young coach trying to get into the profession, and you have volunteered for 2 years at a Power 5 big time program, what is the next best step for you? Is going D2 a necessity? Struggling to get any response at all even from small D1s.

Your former employers should be the ones getting you a job somewhere. That’s the trade off. Free labor for two years and they help you find a beginner gig. You still don’t have the clout to beat out long time coaches. Find a program that is looking for its 3rd or 4th distance coach.

You should be able to go Smaller D1 or paid distance assistant, if you do everything right. Are you getting support from the staff you work for? Be open to D2 also!

This is for all aspiring coaches that plan to volunteer at any school(especially P5):

Make sure you come to the agreement with the coach(s) you’re working for, that per working for free and granted you do a great job and are loyal, they must compensate you by helping you during your process of seeking a paid position. Don’t let them off the hook by getting your services for nothing, but definitely go above and beyond for that program so they WANT to do this for you because they feel you deserve the opportunity. They should politic for you!

Anything is better than dealing with a bunch of Tennessee rednecks.

Out of coaching. This is just a stupid statement. Only guy with lssu ties that has any chance of going to Saginaw is Grant Lahfdale (or however you spell it) and that’s ONLY if he’s a bored

It depends. The #1 factor in getting a job is who you know. You volunteer at a D1 to know people. Unless you know someone who knows someone on one of the staffs that you're contacting, you're probably wasting your time.

As a former Bear, I am very happy about this hire. He seems to be the coach that UNC deserves and I am so thankful the school FINALLY decided to move beyond the dumpster fire that was Schick.

From talking with other alumni, as long he dedicates to recruit, he will be fine and escalate the program the last coach just couldn’t comprehend how to.

Funny release. Rahn Sheffield didn't coach at UCD in 2013 and was an assistant in 2014 but somehow got credit for conference titles those year. He must have been really good!

Actually, let’s not forget what she did when she first arrived at a Tennessee: she kicked 6 scholarship athletes off the team so she could use their scholarships to recruit “her own” athletes- even though she had recruited one of those athletes to Penn State.

That is well beyond bad coaching - it violates the first canon of ethics of the USTFCCCA.

Beth Alford Sullivan is a disgrace.

One of them was the US #1 400m hurdler female too. She told her she can finish the semester but must transfer for spring. Tennessee has been mediocre at best under her
