Andy Bowman is a dark horse, but unlikely as he's still in Grad school i believe, but could be an out-of-the box hire for the program.
I think the likely choice is Winona State's head coach Zach Kughn as mentioned before. He has mid-michigan ties and ties to the program...somewhat. He is an up and coming name in coaching and learned behind multiple great coaches himself, like Mike Scannell. Coach Cowan wants someone who will be 110% invested in the program and this could be the guy.
The other names I'll throw out there for fun are:
Jeremy Wilk of Northwood. Would he move across the street to saginaw?
Former saginaw athlete and Northwood assistant Collin Nuremberg is another name. Another guy like Kughn who is a huge young talent.
Anyone from the Baltes coaching tree. This guy always seems to be producing the next good midwest D2 coaches.

I'm not so sure going to Saginaw valley would be a step up from Iona. I guess depends what his goals are 5 years from now. I believe Saginaw valley is under investigation or has been sanctioned for some crazy scholarshipping stuff butt I forget exactly what. I wouldn't call it an ideal place to work, but in the past they've been a good team and they just got a new 300 m indoor track facility.

I don’t think that will really affect the track program as far as I know. Magglio has a great list- i’d add Nick Ekel and David Silversmith to the mix too. Both Michigan guys.

Since we’re like just guessing and speculating until next week. .. my guess is Stanford gets Powell’s and UW staff. UW then gets Franklin and Ihmels. UNM and Boise State go home devastated.

How about Bob Larsen as Stanford head coach? That would be an interesting hire. He must be about 80 now and may not want to get back into the college game. If I was the Stanford AD I would reach out and at least have a conversation with him.

I'd guess Coach Larsen, would be flattered by the offer but is no longer interested in coaching at the collegiate level. Great coach and leader though!

The posting was for an assistant cross country and track coach. He may coach just the men, but more likely he'll just operate as the assistant for both programs.

Good luck finding a mid-major full-time coaching position making 65k a year. I personally think they SHOULD make that, but they are very rare. Especially for a throws coach. Heck, even some Pac-12 full-time coaches barely make more then that.

This is a silly statement. The head coaches at these universities in the American East make

New Hampshire $79,800

Vermont $79,000

Stony Brook $103,000

U Mass Lowell $84,400

Heck, even the head coach at Chattanooga makes 75k.

Some of the lowest paid assistants in the Pac-12 still make over 60k (Colorado 60k, UCLA 62k, ASU 70k for XC assistants)
