Henry Rono training for masters mile record. PART II

mentioning the name of John Chaplin, former WSU coach, to Henry, is like waving a red flag in a bulls face. From what I've heard the 2 did not part on good terms.

who actually did more 'real' coaching, (if any) at WSU; Jack Mooberry or John Chaplin? (real coaching means going out with the boys every day, timing them, encouraging and yelling at them when necessary, charting and logging their workouts).

Sorry, I certainly didn't intend to do that. I had no idea. From my very short interaction with him, it didn't sound like there was any bad blood on Chaplin's side.

regarding this article; sorry, I'm not buying that there are "Kenyan training secrets" or any 'special' workout that they or the Ethiopians do, that 'make the difference' between them and the kid from Missouri, for example. Alot of it has to do with being born at altitude and running all their lives from an early age. The 'perfect storm' of genetics and oxygen uptake building altitude combined with a very physical upbringing.

I think the bad feelings are all from Henry; as he felt Chaplin wasn't always looking out for his best interests and actually held him back in some ways.

The 318 day of training phase II.25mwp + 62mhc +19mcd =106 minutes.

At 4:am I did cadio +AB ripper it is the best way to lose weight so fast you can't believed it.

What is your weight now, Henry?

don't ask...let's just say he could still stand to lose a good 25 lbs, still. Think of it as resistance training. Like running in a weight vest. When he sheds the weight vest he will fly!

but, shed it he must.

I always hesitate to ask. But I also think that the extra weight may be the only thing that is holding Henry back right now.

Henry... when you mentioned the AB Ripper workout I couldn't believe my eyes, so I went to teamrono and from there to your strength and nutrition journal... and confirmed my worst fears -- you are doing the P90X program!!!!!!!!

I just saw that program advertised on the tv and checked it out: man, it is insanely hard! Aren't there something like 300 exercises in the Ab Ripper workout????

How on earth are you able to do that program? Well, I guess that's the spirit of a world-record breaker. Good on you, Henry!

I'm going to have to check out that AB Ripper workout. Henry has already inspired me to run up and down hills every day. I want to feel strong again.

You hit the nail right on it.It is coming off though.There a big different than few weeks ago in Carlsbad race.

Henry: I saw you have a Korean guy on your team, who claims to have run a 2:10 marathon in Japan.

That is somewhat surprising in view of the fact that he has bests of 14:09/29:00 which would point more to a tim in the 2:13-2:16 range. The Korean also has a half marathon best of just under 1:04 - making his marathon time very surprising.

The 319 day of training phase II.19mwp + 61mhc + 31mcd = 111 minutes. I could let the youngsters take the lead;however,do you think they left way behind no way,I was hanging right on their tail until we hit copper hill(Team Rono Hill)if you don't mine the name.

The hamstring is healing up and also listening to the hamstring feelings,i'm using the feelings to treat it;however,Team Rono Gym exercises does a great job for the surounding muscles to grow up and prop up the weak and the injury muscle.You understand me!

Why would 14:09/29:01 "point to" anything? It seems like a typical marathoner's profile to me, easily within one standard deviation. Any self-proclaimed fan of Lee Bong-Ju would already know this.

Henry he's not asking anything. He's trying to say that it was Yoo Young-Hoon who ran 2:10:37 in Japan in 1999, not Hyung Jae-Young (who ran 2:11:34 in 1999, and 2:11:39 in 2000).
