Thank you! Is that really true? Well if so, now we have a face and a name...
I honestly don't know what the "yaboyscottjurek" account has posted over the years since I blocked them on Instagram a long time ago. But whoever it is, they seem/seemed to really have it out for me (and I'd imagine probably ultra runners like Camille). I'm not saying we've not deserved criticism or to be poked fun at....as I'm all for quality humor and I've certainly made my fair share of mistakes and indiscretions over the years...
Context: I was hospitalized with a life threatening pulmonary embolism, racked up five figures of medical debt (lost part of lungs which is permanent damage), then we had lost our home and basically everything in a fire...and this was also not long after Sandi's sister passed from cancer at the age of 35.....
So I'm dealing with all that and here comes "yaboyscottjurek" to shoot me while I'm down with what I'd claim is close to defamation kinds of content (in that it aims to hurt my credibility and reputation as a coach and therefore our business and adding to financial strain). The account had posted a picture of me (Photoshopped) that implied I said/wrote a quote that I didn't say (it was not positive)...
Now since Camille and I may be seen as "public figures" one could also argue that it "goes with the territory" and we are of course open targets for memes and "satire." It's not like I'm not also critical of "influencers" and call out bs all the time on social media and do some satire myself. And when you put yourself out there on social media you are prone to being a target...no doubt. And yes, everyone goes through life with some sort of adversity/tragedy/obstacles at times (some worse than others obviously!).
But I'll tell you this: It's not funny when you've basically lost everything and hit rock bottom in life and then some annoying meme account essentially bullies you under the guise of "satire". The ultra community likes to pride itself on being "friendly and open and inclusive" and the reality is that you've got some pretty unhinged characters with an axe to grind against "roadies" and "sponsored runners" - and that they are way more judgmental and toxic/insecure compared to many in the road and track running crowd imo. I used to say "LetsRun is tame compared to the comments section on iRunFar."
Now I'm not going to defend what Camille has done in the past. And I don't really know what shes doing now. But I don't think unnecessary "bullying" is just as I believe it creates a more toxic culture in general. Some criticism is certainly more valid at times and of course should be called out (i.e. dopers in the sport!) and sure some humor and memes are all fun and games and about not taking the sport or life too seriously. That's great entertainment and cheap laughs! Making fun of ideas and concepts is more advanced humor than making fun of people directly though (and doing elementary photoshop jobs) imo.
But for the record, if the alternate on team USA was in fact allowed to start the race now in the 24 hour champs... then Camille didn't technically "block a spot." Sure her communication (or lack thereof) was bad and who knows what else she's done?...but it's not like the "spot was wasted"....so she was correct in what she had posted in some regard about not having this strict deadline that determined who on the team could actually run/start?
The fact that Sage figured out a way to make this about himself is truly comedic gold. Even better that he affirms that a meme page on the internet should be sued for saying things he perceived as “mean.” The dissertation is *chef’s kiss.*
She wouldn't qualify for Paralympics because her IQ, most likely as a College graduate with an M.S. in Exercise Science is undoubtedly well above 75.
Besides no ultras in Paralympics. Longest is marathon, but I suspect she'd be up there if she can still run 2:45:00-2:55:00.
Where does she go from here? She's at a crucial crossroads in her life, at age 44+. Tbh, feel sorry things have gone so far.

"Athletes with autism can compete in the Paralympics under the Intellectual Impairment category (II1), provided they meet specific eligibility criteria, including an IQ of 75 or below and significant limitations in adaptive behavior, with the disability having its onset before age 18. The classification is not a separate category for autism but an intellectual impairment category that includes individuals with autism who also meet the intellectual disability criteria. Once classified, athletes are grouped by their specific sport and classification number, such as S14 for swimming or T20 for athletics. Eligibility for the Intellectual Impairment category IQ score: Athletes must have an IQ of 75 or below. Adaptive behavior: There must be significant limitations in adaptive behavior, which affects how an individual learns and responds to life changes. This includes issues with conceptual, social, and practical skills. Age of onset: The intellectual impairment must have occurred before the age of 18. Assessment: A psychological assessment is required to verify that the athlete meets the World Health Organization's criteria for intellectual disability."
Wrong.
She wouldn't qualify for the paraolympics because that is for paraplegics. She isnt missing any limbs. The paraolympics have absolutely nothing to do with the special Olympics, which is for people with developmental disabilities/down syndrome.

You're wrong, there are categories for people who are perfectly physically able, but have mental issues.
Camille qualifies on "limitations in adaptive skills like communication and social skills, and the condition must have developed before age 18."
If Camille Herron could argue that her IQ is below 75 she could get into the Paralympics but she's unlikely to do that for obvious reasons.

"Athletes with an intellectual disability (ID) can compete in the Paralympics, and the category is abbreviated as ID. The criteria include having an IQ of 75 or below, limitations in adaptive skills like communication and social skills, and the condition must have developed before age 18. Following a ban due to a cheating scandal, ID athletes were re-included starting with the 2012 London Paralympics. They currently compete in a limited number of sports, including athletics, swimming, and table tennis, with other sports being considered for future inclusion. Eligibility criteria Intellectual function: An IQ score of 75 or below. Adaptive behavior: Significant limitations in at least one or more areas of adaptive behavior, such as communication, social skills, and self-direction. Onset: The disability must have occurred before the age of 18. Verification: Eligibility is confirmed through a comprehensive assessment process involving a psychologist and an eligibility committee."
So there are a lot of comments I haven’t read through yet. what happened? I’m guessing she didn’t show up for the race but did she withdraw in time so an alternate could compete? has she said anything?

For a professional runner who has achieved sweeet fck all, Sage really has the biggest case of main character syndrome in the whole sport. What are you even doing here bud

In his defence, Sage is one of the fastest vegan marathon runners with his 2:16:00 best, but other vegan elites may be there who don't broadcast their diet status.

Not a speed merchant. I'm guessing 3:55.00-3:59.00 -1500 best. (4:13.00-4:17.00). No publicised time.
14:29.01, 29:47.39, 1:04:32, 2:18:24.
His 2:16:52 from San Diego (2011), not ratified. Strong tailwind.
Sage's half, 1:04:32 is imho his best performance and many people that I speak with about that outlier performance think it was a short course, because Sage's normal average (at his peak 2009-2011) was around 1:06:00-1:08:00. Just saying.
Final analysis: Sage was a good, but not great (Cornell/Ivy League, lesser rating, with Brown) D1 runner. We're guessing he's a cerebral intellectual - deduced from his analytical writing style.

no ones reading all that mate
I'm reading it but I've been known to be persistent when I get into a subject such as this.

I almost spit out my coffee reading that. Sage 100% knows what this thread is about LOL.
He's making himself look too busy/important. Notice the longterm trend - anytime a thread pops up that has juicy drama (Seth Demoor, Nick Bare, Matt Carpenter, Spring Energy, Camille Herron...) 100/100 times he's in there talking about himself.
And then when he gets called out, he'll hide behind the health scare/house fire sob story.

The San Diego Rock N Roll marathon course is tough. It has over 800 feet of climbing with a long climb at mile 20-21. It’s “point to point” but starts in Balboa Park and finishes downtown so it’s closer to a loop. And weather is never bad but never close to ideal because it’s always in June so usually warm and humid. I’ve always thought his time there was among his most impressive.
