He's been pretty clear that he thinks his half of the country is defending nothing less than "civilization" itself against the liberal half of the country.

If you'd worked yourself into this kind of hateful froth against your fellow citizens you'd be willing to condone similarly extreme measures too. He's at the "kill or be killed" stage of American decline.
