Hahahhahahahhahahaha! F*ck me! A Brit takes the 400 and it's not Hudson-Smith. Take a bow Charlie Dobson, the man Tim Hutchins (in)famously called 'the ginger minge'
Man, Hocker's kick has really deserted him. I thought he'd be closer in a 3:30 race but that top gear seems to have disappeared. Comfortable for Jakob and great to see Cheruiyot running well. I love that guy and I'd like to see him back in the medals next year
While I think he can run a special 12.6-7 at his absolute best in a really fast race, I don’t think today was at all bad from a closing perspective. He’s not in his Olympic shape but he’s still in very good form. This was better than Zurich.
I didn't see that he closed in 12.9. that is actually quite good. On a quick re-watch, it looks like he just didn't react to some of the moves well enough. I don't think he'll lose much sleep over this one anyway. Nuguse might though.
Wow, who had Dobson winning that? Hope MHS is okay, anyone see why he pulled up?
looked more like a precaution rather than a blow out
Yeah, he didn't pull up, he slowed down and jogger a 100m or so before dropping. I expect he felt a muscle twinge rather than a tear and thought why bother risking it

Dina said he was moaning in the warm up about the cold and lathering himself with deep heat. So don't think he fancied it.

I think Jakob had this one but on rewatch, Tim could’ve been much closer a la Oslo. The biggest issue with the pacer thing was he couldn’t get by Yared before the bell. Then Yared got tangled which gave an extra meter, and allowed Jakob to pretty easily ward off a pass at 200 to go. I think Hocker with those advantages should have second but he started his kick about 20m too late.
Naser ran the whole last straightaway in Paulino's lane. Wondering if she gets DQed, feels likely she wouldn't have done that without something awry on the final turn.
She won’t be according to ato as she gain no advantage. If she did that on the curve then it would be a different story. I’ve seen sha’cari do this at the 2021 trials.
Replayed it a few times and can't see anyone clipping him. Just looks like he's legs tangled together.
I wonder if his legs didn't briefly get entangled with cherulyots. As a result (maybe) he stepped on the rail and got terribly off balance. If it happened it was fleeting and hard to see. But whether there was contact or not, it was nobodys fault and just bad luck for the goose.
Second meet in a row where a DL pacemaker obstructs the racers. These pacers need training. It's like crossing the street. Look both ways and then make your move. And when you move out, don't casually go into lane 2. Either step off the track or immediately veer into lane 6. These pacemakers start jogging in lane two and then are shocked - SHOCKED - when someone comes up from behind.
With the slower pace and Jakob not pushing it, it was a very untidy race. Entire top 5 over 1508m. Hocker the worst at 1513m. Granted the top 2 had their own issues with the pacer at 500m to go. Tim 26.9 last 200 (13.2), Jakob 26.4 (12.9), Hocker 26.5 (12.9). without the pacer debacle I bet the race is a few tenths faster for the top 2.

Here's Yared's take on it. He said he felt really strong going into the last lap and someone else tripped him.
Do you seriously think the majority of the people watching wanted to watch the entire 5000? It's one of the least popular events. Although I enjoy watching it I can be realistic and know not many people were rushing to their TV's just to watch it.
