I stated that this is technically violating election laws but you can't prove it. You don't think there are 11,000 couples like this in a state like Georgia?
Russia is geopolitically anti-US. They said this. It’s their stance.
We can hurt our enemy, Russia, by giving their enemies money.
This is an argument for helping Ukraine that is not terrible. It’s been an argument for helping allies, proxy wars, etc. for millennia.
Your stance is that the downsides of helping Ukraine outweighs the benefits. But that doesnt make the above argument for Ukraine terrible.
Some more measured discussion and willingness to accept bits and pieces of the other side’s views would do this thread some good.
Russia is only anti-US because the US is anti-Russia. There's no reason in the world the US can be friends with countries like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia but not Russia... The only argument people seem to make in support of supporting Ukraine is "it's the right thing do." This position requires completely ignoring the behavior of the USA and NATO from 1991-2022.
In the big picture is is FAR more beneficial for the US to have closer ties with Russia than it is for the US to engage in a proxy war and drive Russia into the arms of China to benefit a backward corrupt 3rd world country like Ukraine
Hey, did Putin just say that Wagner is 100% funded and armed by Russia today?
Doesn’t that contradict Russias past claims that Wagner was independent from Russia as they slaughtered people and toppled regimes elsewhere?
Seems Putin isn’t even concerned about his past lies and global war crimes being exposed anymore. I guess he has bigger things to worry about than international legal problems.
Another one of CC's talking points just strangled itself with its own shoelaces. The neo-Nazi Wagner group turns out (like every sane person already knew) to have been an officially funded part of the Russian government all along.

Like I said. You present alternatives that you deem better or negatives that outweigh the benefits.
The fact is: Russia is our stated enemy, and we can spend money to weaken them. That is a solid, and time tested argument.
Acting like this is some insane or stupid idea makes people think you aren’t serious and just a troll.

WHY is Russia our enemy?
Why do you think Russia being closer to China (our real enemy) is more beneficial than Ukraine not getting to pretend to be a democracy?
The war is not weakening Russia. They are winning the war.

There it is. The ultimate combo of Neville Chamberlain type appeasement with Jane Fonda-esque liberal blame-America-first doctrine. According to AITR, Russia invaded Ukraine -- which is the most dangerous geopolitical event and threat to global security of the last 70 years -- because America just isn't friendly enough to Russia.
What kind of adult would type this: "Russia is only anti-US because the US is anti-Russia"? He has been shown to not believe (or even fully understand) half of what he types, but even as a troll attempt, what kind of confounding mentality would lead an adult to type something that naive and ridiculous?
This link below is not exactly on point, but does touch on the mentality of some of those people. Oikophobia indeed.

The war is not weakening Russia. They are winning the war.
It doesn't really matter why? They are, they said it, theyve committed to it. We can't go back in time. Invading another sovereign nation doesn't exactly make them trustworthy.
Losing thousands of men and loads of equipment probably isn't strengthening them, but you can believe what you like.
Was the US stronger after Vietnam? After Afghanistan?

In 2012 Mitt Romney said Russia was our #1 geopolitical threat in the presidential debate with Obama and Obama laughed at him and said "the 1980s called and wants its foreign policy back" and you people all clapped like seals. Now 10 years later you're all acting like it's 1965 and the USSR is at its zenith.
The US invades sovereign nations all the time.
The notion that the US is pure good and anyone we don't like is pure evil is infantile nonsense.
Russia considers the US to be an enemy because we treat Russia like it's still 1965.
The government does this SOLELY for profit. If there's no good reason for war the government will invent a reason. The people driving this war don't give a rats ass about Ukraine. It's a gravy train. Nothing more.
Cut veteran’s benefits, save money. You’re on board right?
I don’t live in Oklahoma. Why should my tax dollars go support Oklahoma when some trailer park gets hit by a tornado?
p.s. There are numerous reasons why supporting Ukraine is in America’s best interest. They just don’t immediately help you, so you think they’re terrible.
I support efficiency.
Could we save money by making the VA more efficient? Yes.
Does this have anything to do with Ukraine. No.
I'd rather waste more money on the VA in AMERICA than on corrupt Europeans for any reason.
Oklahomans are AMERICANS. Americans should be higher on the priority list than corrupt Europeans.
If there were "numerous reasons" you could name some.
I would rather support Ukrainians killing Russian Nazis than Oklahomans that are too stupid to move out of tornado ally.
I would rather support Ukrainians actively defending their homelands than give a single cent to some high school dropout that retired from the army twenty years ago.
I also support efficiency. It would be more efficient if NATO just send troops to Ukraine and drove RussoNazi invaders back to Moscow.

We don't get to choose what stupid things the government does with our taxes.
This is a very good argument for limited government and reduced spending.
Also, you can't even join the military without a high school diploma.
It would be much more efficient for you to go to Ukraine and fight than to send someone else. Something tells me your false bravado would disappear if your own useless life was in jeopardy.

I can't listen to you until you demonstrate you can successfully install an adblocker. Just saying, a child could do it.

Do you really think Russia is stronger now?
Anyway
1) who is "you people" I voted for Romney. I agreed with him
2) Doesn't make it right? Doesn't make it morally wrong to support those that get invaded? Weird argument
3) Never said the US is pure good? Why are you putting words in my mouth?
4) Russia is currently acting like they are our enemy, we can either be naive and magically hope we can go back in time, or... face the current situation and deal with an enemy. Sure, maybe we should have never got here, but were here, we have to act.
5) People make profit, sure. That doesn't mean whats happening to the Ukrainians is ok and that giving them support isn't in our geopolitical interests given Russia is... our stated enemy.
You are making this more complicated than it has to be. You need to accept there is a case for helping Ukraine; sure, you don't agree... but there is a case.

^^^^^^
This is yet another example of how internally cross upped this guy gets when he's on troll mode. Here he is agreeing with Obama's theory that Russia was not a geopolitical threat (and disagreeing with Romney). But in other posts he says Russian invaded Crimea, which at least in those posts he appears to believe is somewhat of a bad thing, because Obama was weak on confronting Russia. And this is all somehow in support his larger and much more idiotic "Russia is only anti-US because the US is anti-Russia" theme. Follow all this twisted appeasement logic at your own peril.

1. The typical Ukrainian zealot didn't vote for Romney.
2. Getting invaded doesn't automatically make you the good guy.
3. You say Russia is evil which implies that you think their adversaries are the good guys...
4. Russia is acting in the hostile environment the US has been fostering since 1991. NATO has been gobbling up territory for decades.
5. I still don't see any reason why Russia needs to be our enemy or why we should care what Russia does in Europe. If Europe isn't willing to defend Europe we sure as hell shouldn't be either.
I never denied there was a case for helping Ukraine. I simply said the case is stupid and it is.
Even if 100% of what you say is true, Europe should be the one to do the work not the US. Ukraine is a European problem.
Russia has no navy. Russia has a small economy. Russia is no threat to the US unless we provoke them into using nuclear weapons.
