GET TESTED
And take vitamin D
Over 30 clinical trials are underway to test the efficacy of vitamin D as a preventive and therapeutic for COVID 19.
Any rational person who has seen the data would be persuaded to start taking vitamin D immediately. About 87% of Americans and 93% of African Americans are DEFICIENT in vitamin D, having less than 30nmol/l. I talked with a doctor who said his typical patient has D levels of 16-18. The optimal range is 30-100. I take 5,000IU of D daily. My D level is 83. I have been exposed to COVID 19 and I think I've had it, but I've been mostly asymptomatic. Regardless of whether I have or have not had it, the data on vitamin D as a preventive and therapeutic are impressive.
The correlation between low vitamin D levels and severity of COVID 19 is as great as...
Obesity
Age
Heart Problems
Diabetes
Many people, and especially populations with darker skin, cannot store vitamin D from sunlight. It's a genetic trait that evolved to protect this population from sunlight in equatorial regions. To get adequate levels of D, they either need to be in the sun a LOT or they need to take a vitamin D supplement.
