Prigozhin now owns Putin. Some sort of deal has been struck and Prigozhin probably got almost everything he wanted. MoD personnel handed over their HQ in Rostov-on-Don to Wagner without a shot being fired. Only a few helicopters (no jets) were sent to try to stop the Wagner advance on Moscow. Clearly, Prigozhin has some rank and file support among MoD forces. Prigozhin wants Shoigu out and I would bet that happens. Prigozhin doesn't want Putin's job. He just wants to control Putin and to be able to run the war the way he wants. Just before the rebellion, Prigozhin went on a tirade against the war that sounded like something you would read in the Kyiv Independent. He called BS on de-nazification and the NATO/Ukraine threat. He called out Shoigu for starting the war to line his own pockets.

Prigozhin's game is raping third world countries and using their natural resources to fund Wagner. He does not share the Russian chauvinism that is at the center of Russia's war on Ukraine. And Prigozhin knows that the war in Ukraine cannot be won and needs to be wound down so he can go back to stealing money from the Republic of Congo.

What will be interesting is whether Gerasimov and Shoigu will be willing to bury the hatchet with Prigozhin and take one for the team. Or has a deal been struck just to give MoD loyalists to Shoigu time to get forces in place to try to take out Prigozhin? This will show whether Putin controls Shoigu and Gerasimov or whether it is the other way around. Clearly, Putin does not control Prigozhin. And Prigozhin now owns Putin.

Big win for you guys. You must be absolutely ecstatic for Putin and your cause.

Reports are coming out that Lukashenko mediated a deal between Putin and Priogzhin to end the rebellion. There had to be huge concessions to Prigozhin to get a deal done. Before the rebellion, Russia was moving to force Wagner soldiers to sign contracts with the MoD. Then, just before the rebellion, Russia sought to arrest Prigozhin and was shelling Wagner positions. Now Prigozhin is backing down and no one from MoD is pursuing Prigozhin or Wagner. Wagner walked into Rostov-on-Don unopposed and is now leaving without a single shot being fired. That is a pretty clear sign that there is a huge disconnect between the top of RU's forces and the boots on the ground in Ukraine.

Russia has said NATO in Ukraine was a red line for decades. The US would behave the same way if the roles were reversed. We'll soon find out as China is planning on stationing troops in Cuba.
