The 303 day of training phase II.29mwp + 90mhc +13mcd = 132minutes. It starts to break the entire body lubrication from the toe to the head.I feel my entire body stretching out lean and mean.

We are craving for more training and more racing.Do you have one for me for April 14,2007?

This week is the body transformation toward serious runing.

The youngsters are nailing against the wall for sure.I don't allow any excuses to step in.It might slow our training progress.

The evening training was great.I did alot of body flexibilities and stretches.Alot of Abdominals the core body area needs strength training to burn more un-necessary-faty acids.

I need strong muscles in abds.So I started today. My weight will go down the hill very fast.Every-two weeks I will be racing 5ks or 10ks in preparation of knocking down master mile record.

Why the mile? You set world records at 3000 through 10000. You ran much better at Carlsbad than your mile times would suggest, even though the extra weight becomes more of a factor as distance increases. It looks to me like you are better at 5k and will surely bring your time down a lot more.

Wrongo. Once you are over 30, the "glamor" event is the marathon. You can run 4:30 as a master's miler, and the average lardass is like, "yeah, i think I ran something like that in P.E. class". Run a 4:30 marathon and the same guy is "wow, I could never do that!"For now, Henry's best event is..."The HIIILLLL!!!!"

I want to start off with the mile it is how far my eyes can see. I can see as far as 5k now as you witness me on Carlsbad 5k race.

I'm looking for another 5k in two weeks somewhere in low altitude.Do you know of any?

From then on my time will be coming down by 20-40 seconds by every race I run.As my weight melting down, it will be equeted with better times.How is that sound to you?

As a person that has not read this thread from the start what does the letters after the minutes run mean. I can see the warm up and cool down, but what does mhc mean? I'm sure it is obvious. This was also probably covered before, but why do you run in minutes rather than miles? I know Lydiard advised most of us to do that Keep on running Henry!

I agree that there is too much emphasis on the mile, but disagree that the glamour event is the marathon. The marathon becomes increasingly tough on the body as we age, and it's difficult to do more than two quality marathons per year as races. Henry clearly still has some speed, and his age-graded 85% in the Carlsbad 5000 indicates that he is already competitive at the 5k distance. I think he would also do well at the 10k based on his workouts, but there is no harm in seeing what he can do in the mile.

I think you're sub 18 minute 5k should silence any doubters that you are serious about your comeback. You also proved that you put your money where your mouth is as far as completing the obligations to the race directors. But you still need to pay the bills, and to do that, you need to market yourself a little more effectively.

You've gotten good advice about the T-shirts and posters - market them without and without your signature, which I would say is worth at least a $10 surcharge. Can you convince one of the young guys you've been coaching to help you with the shipping and handling in exchange for your coaching?

Second, you need to leverage for an appearance fee in addition to having your expenses covered if you commit to a race. In exchange, you will likely be asked to sign autographs, which I think we all agree are worth something, so it's onlt fair that get a stipend to help pay the rent.

Finally, are any of you letsrun college kids in a marketing class? If so, maybe you could do a class project on extracting some value for Henry from his ronorun web site.

mhc=minutes hill climb

The secret is in the hills! Everyone on this board should take note of what Henry is doing, and how he has prepared. He listens to his body, and it tells him how to train. Miles don't mean anything to him, he has no need to know how many miles he's running a week. His body tells him when it's had enough training, then he sleeps to rejuvenate, then wakes up and trains again. Don't set mileage limits to your training, just train. Listen to your body.

Henry, didn't Mike Fanelli invite you to an upcoming race?Have you talked to him?These are exciting times! Congrats!
