Runner commits sexual assault in a race. Race is photo'd/video'd. He gets caught.

Yep. Took a bunch of credit for the work of others to the media and elsewhere until Meza committed suicide. Then he disappeared.

My initial headline was too broad. I admit that and I changed it.

There were probably about a half dozen cheaters where information came from these boards or where letsrun posted something . Dave Reading, Parvaneh/Larry, Bre Manziel, Meza, and Rob Young come to mind. There were probably a few more.

Most of the media came to the conclusion that the Duke Lax players raped that girl. When the evidence came out it turned out they were all wrong.

Let’s wait for the facts to come in before we conclude what happened.

It’s her claim only and he might very well claim he didn’t. She just jumped out of fright.

Is smacking her on the butt appropriate? No. But what is the appropriate punishment? The vigilante internet mob usually metes out punishment far in excess of the misdeed - which is why I’m even rethinking how much exposure of a cheater is warranted.

It's obvious, Derek wants this to be another Frank Meza only this time he entirely skipped the investigating part. His promise to change after Frank Meza was hollow. He even said he was going to stop posting on LRC, and yet here he is.

Referencing the guy that took two medals - I absolutely did not dox him. The photo that was posted was from a pubic Instagram post that already had 300 likes. This post that was already shared to some running groups on Facebook. I cropped it to not show his Instagram name. I hid his bib # and blocked out his last name from a photo in the background.

I said I would not take part in the cheater threads. I said that I would not take part in public investigations. That holds true. I came in here to respond. If I didn't come in here you'd still be criticizing me for ignoring your questions. Now you are criticizing me for responding.

The only thing that is relevant here is what happened on Saturday. Looking at the entire video I am in agreement with nearly everyone else. That she was slapped in the butt. You are the only one making the argument that she wasn't. Her Instagram posts are irrelevant. Nothing she did prior to that moment excused him slapping her. That holds true whether he slapped her butt, her leg, or her back.

I felt the second post was warranted. The focus of that post was not on his actions but on the minimizing of his actions and some of the archaic responses from this board. I wasn't inciting a mob against the guy. I've refused to talk to national media regarding this (Inside Edition approached me this morning). The comments on my social media referenced the responses on this thread--which were the focus of the post. Part of the problem, and why some people like this runner may think the behavior is ok is because people minimize the behavior.

I had an email exchange with Wojo. I concede that I shouldn't have singled out LetsRun. There was similar sentiment on twitter and elsewhere. Now, there are similar comments on other articles . Tomorrow, I will post something to this effect as an update to the 2nd article and communicate that through my social media.

And yet "everyone else" was in agreement doxxing the wrong guy for the Boston Marathon bombings, eh, Derek? So show me a screenshot from the video where this guy's hand is touching her butt. And you still have not shown you've done ANY investigating to rule out he did it accidentally or not with mal intent. For cheaters that cut a course, you typically require multiple corroborating pieces of evidence to convict and yet here you lowered that bar so much you didn't even bother considering there are alternatives. Shame on you. You think you are such a hot shot investigator but people on LRC do a much more thorough and cross checked job than you. I am question your credibility and whether you have also carried out such negligence in past investigations.

Wasn't there some deal at the Boston Marathon a couple of years ago where a female runner kissed some random guy WITHOUT CONSENT? The news portrayed the whole thing as a feel-good story, and I think the lady even said she did it on fun whimsical dare from her mom.

Oh really, the way you incite the mob you call your followers on your Facebook pages could have fooled me! And for the one or two followers that told you that you went overboard, you shut them down and put words in their mouths saying they are telling you to "stay in your own lane". Just compare the moderate views of most on here to the ones you call your lynch mob. Your mob is the one posting the guy's location and doxxing him. The photo in the Taylor Swift case did NOT definitively show his hand on her but either. There was no "proof". And yet she sued him and won in a unanimous verdict. Hell, people have been convicted of murder with no murder weapon and no body. Just happened recently in Colorado.

The preponderance of evidence here indicates he slapped her butt. A person can argue whether or not this meets the definition of "sexual assault" but it is very hard to argue against him touching her. I think those saying he may not have are simply trolling to get a rise out of other posters.

Is Derek posting about this guy in Marathon Investigation because the guy cheated in a marathon, a 5k, or a 5k marathon?

I am just trying to understand what this has to do with Derek in the first place. He didn't witness it. It doesn't have anything to do with cheating or marathons. I guess it must be a slow week for Derek. There are no serial marathon cheaters being investigated on LRC and he doesn't have anything to complain about until after the Honolulu Marathon when he can post his annual rant about how the race director could care less if some HJ's cut the course.
