If Lagat breaks Scott's American record should it be marked with an asterisk?

If Lagat runs under Scott's time it should not be american record. American Records should be people born on american soil. I know you don't agree with me ,but I m sick of all these foreign athletes going to other countries not just the USA, but everywhere and all of sudden they are considered from there.

Like for example is Daniel Komen from Denmark. No he may represent Denmark, but he is Kenyan as far as I m concerned.

Records should be for athletes who were either born or grew up in the country. Regardless of the flack I m going to get for this post. That's the way I feel and I bet a lot others do too.

Yeah and Culpepper sounds foreign to me, kick him back to his own country and his wife too, she has the same damn name.

Yes it's true Lagat WAS a Kenyan and now he is American. He can't judge where a person is from by looking at them.

Actually, a true American is someone who comes here from another country looking for better opportunity. And that's what Lagat is doing. So, he is a true American.

Agreed, but if he break's american record. I don't consider it american record. I do consider him a naturalized citizen. Records though are for us born here. Or at least grew up here. That's a true american.

Is the IAAF racist for banning Lagat from international competition for three years? No. The organization merely has more integrity than USTAF when it comes to discouraging mercenarial behavior. Shame on USTAF.
