Kara Goucher unloads on Alberto Salazar, Galen Rupp and the NOP - "Justice is coming."

Like Sgt. Schultz in Hogan's Heroes, "I know nothing" (yes, I realize this opens me up a bit to certain responses). But I do not know who breaks the rules with respect to doping and who doesn't. I have intuitions, but those aren't knowledge. I do love the sport, I've been in it for 50 years, so it does matter to me. However, I think I can add this discussion: Goucher's allegations apparently about doping in NOP is not about doping. Anything who thinks that what angers her is what she perceives as NOP's breaking the doping rules, flaunting the doping rules, etc., has missed the boat. I find it inconceivable that after all these years she would feel so angry, and act as she does, over that. This is personal at the deepest level. She clearly feels she, not running, not fair play, not competition, but she, has been wronged, BUT the only way in which she can avenge that is by trying to implicate NOP in a doping scandal: there's nothing else she can do to them. Now, what injustice does she think has been committed against her--that I don't know, nor does anyone else posting here. Has such a grave injustice been committed against her--that I don't know, nor does anyone else posting here. For the sake of her well being, though, I do hope that in her non-end-of-marathon moments, she has more or less let it go. I doubt it, however.

No, she's bitter that she entrusted Alberto to guide her through the prime of her running career, and it didn't go the way she wanted it to. What exactly did or didn't go down should determine how justified we believe she is to feel the way she does, which at this time, none of us really know.

One thing that is for sure, however, is that she didn't have to stay there for seven years if she didn't like the culture there. To that issue, she did have control over her destiny, and for that she has no one to blame but herself.

I thought it was great reminder...with Rupp being at center of NOP scandal. There was no mention of it on NBC or any of major media outlets.

It just shows how hard they are trying to market Rupp and NBC Olympic T&F coverage even though there is ongoing USADA investigation.

Did you see how many hits the video has? In the thousands...probably viewed by most hard core running USA fans.

Great job by all athletes...I hope Luke P eventually gets on team....if Rupp found to be guilty by USADA.

If there is a funding project for an investigation via an independent organization I will contribute. IAAF has shown their colors. WADA who knows what they are doing.

The sport currently is not clean. Any performance could be chemically enhanced.

Kara is a bright light but the opposing forces have the resources to bias and bury any investigation.

As shown in the evidence that Salazar reluctantly provided, Kara had been hitting on him, was rebuffed, then threatened him which he didn't fall for, the Gouchers were kicked out / left, and never "forgave" Salazar for sticking to his principles and not putting up with their nonsense.

Now they've crawled back to Wetmore and take vindictive pot shots from afar, still being as petty and vindictive as always. Good riddance to them.

On what planet is the career of a female U.S. marathoner over after she's just run 2:30 in abysmal conditions, probably worth a 2:25 on a cool day in Chiacgo? Maybe things didn't seem shady from the get-go. Maybe they did.

But ask yourself this: Even if one or both Gouchers juiced like crazy along with the rest of the NOP cyborgs, and only decided later to come clean after an attack of conscience or owing to resentment or both, does that in any way change the fact that Salazar is a piece of garbage?

This is not what military strategists like to call a zero-sum game. Even if Kara Goucher is a complete whiner and a tragicomic figure who not only doped but has had sex with underage kids with Down sydrome, Alberto is still a master of malice and a cheater extraordinaire, and always has been. He is also a super-tough competitor and was a hell of a talent, but these qualities, also, are not arguments against his foul play. Does it really take a ton of smarts to figure these things out?

I haven't taken the time to read this entire thread. Maybe someone has already alluded to what I am about to state. My prediction is that Adam and/or Kara is going to admit to doping under while under Salazar. Right now they are building a case that ensures the implication of Salazar and maybe Rupp as well. This is their only card left to play. It would be a tough one to play.

People just call them cheaters because they're jealous of their success. I think Kara is just blowing smoke to try and stay relevant. I feel like if the NOP were doping they'd have been caught by now.

The investigation has been going on for what.. like 3 months? More?

I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that USADA would have let Galen start/run/win/qualify/dominate camera time/bring more attention to himself if they had ANY evidence that he (and his team) were about to "sink".

Galen (and NOP) are grey-line clean.. the best kind of clean ;)

Sponsorship money will bury the actual findings. You will never see the truth.

This is right. It's how Lance was brought down. Someone, most likely the Gouchers, are going to have to fess up.

But in this case, someone with power is also going to have to stand up to Nike . Nike sponsored Lance but Lance was his own brand with many many other sponsors, most of which abandoned him before Nike did. NOP is all Nike and Salazar is like a son to Phil Knight. The sport of T&F is now essentially owned and controlled by Nike.

So, while a necessary condition for NOP to be brought down is that the Gouchers throw themselves on their sword, I'm afraid it's not sufficient.

We'll see, though.

Why is it every time someone posts in support of Salazar they are a member of his family or a fanboy or PR drones?

I'm very confused about this. Look at the comment section for any political or sports story. Heck, go check out the comments on the high school football blog. It's tame here.
