I should also mention, that I have had multiple surgeries on both legs after an IED incident in Iraq and had been told that I wouldn't ever be able to run more than a couple miles at a time again. So, whoever wants to complain about me having a 13.1 sticker can blow it up their a$$.

There is nothing notable just finishing a marathon. I am more impressed by a 5 minute mile than a 4 hour marathon.

I'm going to put a "COLLEGE" sticker on my car, since I graduated.
Last year, my daughter - 15 at the time - ran her 1st half - averaging sub 8:00/mi. Someone bought her the 13.1 decal & I had no prob whatsoever with her putting it on the wife's minivan.

Actually 26.2 is pretty lame too. I love running, but running a marathon in 4 hours is not the height of athletic achievement. I would say winnig a half is more of something to brag about than a 4:15 full. It's lame to put on your car either way.
I don't have stickers on my car. I don't find anything 'wrong' with it though
It seems like a way for some people to reach others in their communities of interest. I see tons of cars here with various school related sports or activities of their kids.
Interestingly, why don't I see golfers with 18 stickers or PEBBLE on their cars? Or tennis players or soccer or fast pitch softball related stuff? Just sayin'
I have a simple "RUN" sticker on my car. Doesnt brag about any distance or time, just gets the point across that I enjoy running.

I think its seriously pathetic when that some people complain about others have 13.1 stickers on their cars. Not everyones life revolves around running....
If you don't like finishing stickers, start printing different color stickers. You could have gold, silver and bronze for top 10%, second 10% and third 10% then red(up to 40%), white (70%) and blue finishing.
I have a 3.1 sticker on my truck and am damn proud!

You apparently don't live in tennis, golf or soccer territory. If I had a buck for soccer ball, tennis racket, PH (pinehurst) or Kiawah (both golf resorts) magnets or stickers I could retire. The car I was behind at the car wash Saturday had a swimmer, a Tyde (swim team), a soccer ball, and a gymnast on the back.
If they make white "PH" circles for Pinehurst I'd bet money they have "PB" ones for Pebble Beach.
Nothing is more gay than the new 39.3 sticker for completing the Goofy Challenge. It even comes with mouse ears.

You people are horrible. Stop being snobs. Not everyone is an athlete and some people get excited when they do something they never thought they could do. Do you all save lives every day? Do you all do anything significantly interesting? The answer is doubtful. Let people be happy about what they can and stop ruining everything for everyone. Then why do they put stickers on the their cars?
Isn't this another issue of suppliers vs consumers (similar to the recreational drug issues)? If running stores stopped providing the stickers for hobby-joggers to adorn their cars with, this problem would go away. But since the store owners are all about money (the Vibrams tragedy, fanny packs, ammo belts, yada, yada, yada fit in here also) they show how little they truly care about the dignity of the sport. And that's surprising since most specialty running stores (at least the ones I've known) are owned by pretty good runners. Protest the store owners, not the PTA moms.
