a good fun event to end the season. nuff said, never intended to run at Birmingham either.
"Emily is busting a gut to do this event because she promised the BMC a long time ago she would run and the flights have been booked," said Farrow. "
A long time ago? Would like to knwow how long is long. Perhaps there was never any intention to go to Beijing...
she is running crap at this point now anyway, think Farrow fully expected her to be running Europeans, when she started going downhill form wise (AAA) he didn't fancy getting stuffed in Beiojing by Miss Edwards, after all it appears to me that The Pidgeon?Farrow camp are as worried about the 'marketability' of their athlete as about performances and getting beaten by a fellow Brit just would not do.

So 5th - 7th if she had run the chase then ?
Lets see what the times are like in the 3k, I think she would have avoided the 5k - not just because Edwards was running though.
To 'Ignored advice from the top':-
Regarding Emily's training - this has been the source of speculation for quite some time; I'm interested, because a few of the junior girls at our club take quite an interest in her and hear various rumours as to what she does.
Do you genuinely have inside knowledge on this front (you said she did full on adult work) - if so, what sort of stuff (ie mileage/sessions/frequency) is she doing?
Grateful for your views
To 'Parents Viewpoint'
You mentioned that you are the parent of a junior girl who went to the World cross. Can you tell me what the perception if of Emily among her fellow runners and, more importantly, the perception of Farrow ?
because the contract has only come into effect now and are only forcing the athlete to do what they want now.darren campbell is retiring so can say what he wants athens for radcliffe was 2yrs ago.they are keeping certain coaches out of the loop john anderson was refused accreditation to be with sam ellis.go to the power of 10 and all the big boys names are beside the athlete they coach but if your joe soap no such luck. last year i was coaching a very good 1500mt runner and he was told if he stayed with me he would get no funding but that if he went to one of the accredited uk coaches he would that goes against the whole idea of poaching and in other words is a dictatorship.the athlete left, that i have no problem with,it was the way it was done.to anybody who thinks this is right do not complain when it happens to you, this sport should be about integrity and most of us have it but not uk athletics.
"Jo Pavey (Exeter Harriers) lines up in the 3,000m, after a brave run which ended with fourth place at the European Championships in Gothenburg. Pavey will be joined by Faye Fullerton, following the withdrawal of Emily Pidgeon (Gloucester AC). Russian Lilya Shobukhova, who went past Pavey in the final lap of the 5,000m at the European Championships and took Silver, is in the field."
Views anyone?
Looks highly suspicious to me. THough admittedly could just be poor form.
Do people reckon? a ) poor form so self/UKA withdrawal b) continuing ructions with UKA c) planned switch to another country d) another reason?
All speculation, but after everything else, must admit that at the moment, I'm thinking that we may be losing one of our best female distance runners and most talented...
David Farrow says its her foot:
I hop[e she has a good winter and returns to good form, free of all the hassles that have surrounded her recently.
I think it is a bit harsh to say John Anderson was refused accredutation. My understanding was that UKA were given 15 passes and they distributed them to the most likely medal winners and finalists coaches - John wasnt in that group.
As for the coaching, I find it hard to believe that it is exactly as you have written it. Which events are we talking about ?
sam ellis won a medal and made it through the rounds, are you telling me they could not get a pass, get a grip he used to coach moorcroft but they do not get on now so work it out as for coaching it os endimic across all events look it up,if you are top ranked with a uk employed coach the coaches name is there if you are down the list bar a few exceptions your name is not, why is that if they can give other relevant info why not that, simple they dont want to whatever there reasons.it is not paraniod its there, factand if you want to ignore it fine but someday its going to blow up in their faces, sooner or later governing bodies will have to learn its the athletes that should be asking where it is reasonable tobe assisted not what the federation dictates.no athletes equals no federation in other words without the athletes the federation would not exist, the sooner the athletes realise they hold the key to the right changes for them and their coaches the better, noone likes to be dictated to,give them a choice and they will comply,do not and you have an emily pidgeon you may think it wrong but it is her choice to be wrong.
Moorcroft had no input in to the distribution of passes. Anderson was not in Gothenburg so even if they could have got him a pass it wouldnt have been used.
Emily Pidgeon did have a choice. She took it, and it was wrong. However her recent form, perhaps injury affected, suggests that she would not have been a force in Beijing anyway.
The preference for the European Champs over the World Juniors, then the decision not to go to Beijing at all (like Fukuoka) then the downturn in form tell you all you need to know if you bother to look. I agree they did a very good job of suggesting that it was the Federations fault, but too many people can see through that.
Can I also suggest that you dont post after you have been to the pub, or sniffing glue.
we will agree to disagree because when you start accusing me of being drunk and inhaling solvents their is no point in a debate, thats just being cheap and nasty for no reason.
