I think most people on this board are pretty disappointed by Chebet's run. She's no Hassan it seens, at least not today. Tsegay shows what she can do if she sort of controls herself over the first 800. Was hoping for a little more from Hiltz. She's still just outside a favorite for a medal next month with no signs that's yet changed.

3:54 for a person of Chebet's quality is a ho hum result. She didn't win in 3:54 and out kick these 1500 specialists, no she was dropped and lost all contact with a rival. The talk of her as the goat distance runner can be paused at least for today. Now it's clear it would have been better for her to run the 3000 with Faith and see if they could have pushed each other to find that last second.

Lot of us didn't expect her to be as competitive in her first 1500m in years. I thought 3:53 or 3:54 would be a great time for her. Anyone predicting she'd break the WR is mad.
So you are writing off chebet's 1500m abilities from her real 1500 debut where she ran against Tsegay who runs crazily like spliting 1.59 for the first 800? Last year chebet made like 6 attempts at the 5k world record and two more times this year till she got it. Am sure if she runs more 1500s and get used to running the distance she will get faster and Tsegay won't be a threat at all
