Definitely. And to be sure I'd think you'd need to be even a little faster. I was thinking 2:22-2:23 to be in 3:59 shape but who knows.
If her attempt was the week after Xiamen, I would agree wholeheartedly. In my experience, 2'23 is the sweet spot. However, 8 weeks out, I think 2'28-29 would be a positive sign.

For people not involved in the sport, the sub 4 minute mile doesn't mean anything. For those involved and a bit knowledgeable, no need to go into km. The sub 4 is a landmark in athletics.
Sub-4 mile is one of the few benchmarks people outside of the sport understand. Most people aren't aware of the significance of a sub 10 100 or a sub 13 5000 for instance

I don't care if Lance Armstrong is her personal pharmaceutical coach and is on the infield- if Faith somehow goes under 4, it is among the most impressive runs ever, point blank end of discussion. Hell, if she goes under 4:05 it would be remarkable.

Could you set up a track so that guys could run in front of her in a V formation with the inside guys running on the inside of the track? It's a DQ of course, but that doesn't matter. Just have 7-8 guys running 3:59 pace in front of her, blocking all the wind.

So WA regulations limit spike midsole heights to 20mm and I can tell you that even though you might see 20mm on the side of the spike, what is actually under you foot where it matters is far less. Don't believe me - cut a pair of you spikes in half and see for yourself. Anyway if she wants to win any money/maybe break a WR in Xiamen she won't be wearing anything illegal.
