I've been saying this since last year...Hocker is just what Wheating would be in super spikes. Tons of potential but these guys burn bright and quickly.
Teare is the only one that I think can medal internationally, and I’ve thought that for awhile. 1,500 is his race and I think he realizes it now.
I thought Teare looked terrible today. What on earth was he doing? I think Teare’s stock dropped after Pre and today. Let’s see what happens in the final, but his high water mark was earlier this spring and he’s not gaining momentum.
Historically 3:38 for a bubble time should make it. Third heat imo is the weakest.

By making the Olympic final last year, Hocker already surpassed everything Wheating accomplished his whole pro career. (Wheating never made the final of a major championships.)

Yeah that's what's baffling. Just 11 short months ago he was running 3:31 and expertly navigating rounds. Something must have happened.
I don't get the second heat at all. They knew the first heat was relatively fast and that they needed at leat a 4:10 to advance. So Degenero and Aragon let the pros set a super slow pace and 4:16. Why even make the trip?
There are quite a few runners who aren't that bright.
