Growing up in LA’s neighboring state, the special occasions in my life were celebrated at Ruth’s Chris in New Orleans. I urge very one to read Ruth Fertel’s life story. She would have never approved the underhanded way her restaurants hijacked this money. 5000 emplyees? Too many!! So let’s get all 150 franchisees to apply because OF COURSE they have less than 500 employees per store. But...what about the 42 million dollar profit you made last year???? All I hear are crickets. I will never eat at Ruth’s Chris again. You have tarnished and ruined the legacy Miss Ruth sacrificed to build. Shame on you. I am a small business owner. I operate a licensed Child Development Center in Jackson,MS. Our enrollment decreased overnight from 102 to 35. I had to supplement payroll through a personal loan. I had applied for the PPP loan on the very first day...no luck, no money. I have heard the Rubio and McConnell spearheaded this. I have also heard that the funds went first Republican donors. PROPUBLICA do your thing!! Redditors make some noise. I would like a detailed list of everyone who was approved. Isn’t anyone overseeing this fiasco? Finally: Congrats to Ruth’s Hospitality Group. You and your cronies finally found a way to ruin the best steak in the universe. Out of respect to Miss Ruth, I am boycotting the restaurants. Shame on you. Give the money back. The residents of NOLA and the entire state will not give you a pass on this. We will be never forget.

you guys DO realize that the PPP debt is ONLY dischargeable IF the owner uses the money to PAY EMPLOYEES, along with rent and utilities. So no PPP, no employees being paid. Guess they could have unemployment but it may well be substantially less than their regular pay (which they'll likely receive for staying home, in many cases). Yep, you're really sticking it to "the man," way to go. Just like the "big bad airlines," nevermind the fact that they have 30,000 employees that will be out of jobs when you "stick it to them."

You’re missing the point here. A company like Ruth’s Chris has large lines of credit plus can post a LOC to access low interest debt for situations like this. All they did was steal $20 million that is needed by actual small businesses.

Also, boycotting Potbelly Sandwiches for the same reason. These ässholes are actually a public company with hundreds of stores. Fück them too.

Both of these businesses will never see another dime from me, my family or my friends.

I'm pissed the way this has been handled myself but don't get your post. If your employees can get 50k without working, why not lay them off if they make less than that? And why are you blaming this on the Dems. It seems like a bi-partisan screwup.

But the outrage for Ruth Chris is a bit misplaced. I mean I'm pissed as hell they ran out of money as we applied ourselves but why should employees at chains not get the same protections as everyone else? What pisses me off is some workers / owners are getting one thing and others aren't getting it at all. They daycare worker who posted above is the perfect example.She applied the first day and didn't get it? Who is supervising this? Who is insuring it's being run properly. How do we know they aren't handing it out to their buddies first?

Rojo u missed two facts. If he lays off the employees so they can ‘make more’ then this invalidates the ‘forgivable’ requirement.

EVERYONE SHOULD SUPPORT LOCAL SHOPS THAT ARE FAMILY OWNED.

More of your money will stay in your town if the owners have children that go to the same public schools as the kids in your extended family.

Check out the local diner, pizzeria, deli, cafe, bagel shop, or bakery in your town instead of big corporate places that will take the profits out of your state.

Good people and good business are not the same thing. Walmart is an incredibly successful business but many people will never step in their door because they are lousy people.

Sending advertisements through the mail is "playing by the rules". That doesn't make it morally right.

The postal service has to deliver the mail even if you have requested that the company stop sending them.

"Playing by the rules" has no effect on the morality of it.

Telemarketers from India calling your phone everyday is "playing by the rules" because Congress hasn't blocked them yet. That doesn't make it morally right.

You are missing the point. Large companies have far more access to capital than small hometown businesses even if the government didn't give them favorable treatment in getting these loans. As of March 30,2020, Ruthless Chris had 71.5 MILLION DOLLARS on hand. How much money do you have to hoard to think you have enough? Obviously they felt the need to hoard another 20 million.

RC is mediocre and overpriced. The sides ala carte bit is b.s.

Most cities have independently owned (usually small business and standalone) restaurants that feature steaks that totally blow RC and Fleming's away...both in quality and price.

You want us to boycott a place where we are currently banned from eating there?

The whole PPP loan system is a mess. How about the business that got approved for the loan, even though their business hasn't been effected? Who's stopping the take out Pizza joint from filing a claim, even though their business hasn't been effected the way most every other restaurant has been effected?

You'd be far more credible if you knew when to use "affected" instead of"effected."
