Nico Young is the best high school XC runner of all time

Lv has the 2 mile record by 5 seconds. All other runners ran the 2 mile plenty and didn't come close.

Except Webb. He improved so much from his indoor 359 to outdoor ,353. I think most people agree he's capable of faster than his indoor 845, the only time he ran it. But 829? Still a bit of a stretch. Ritz crushed him in xc and never broke 840 (which kind of confuses me to be honest).

All this talk in these threads of "didn't go all out, was kind of injured, x y and z". "Doesn't focus on the mile and still ran 407" " tempoed a 1430 5k" or other garbage, muddies the waters. The times are what they are. If you wanna be counted as one of the best ever put a time up that puts you there.

For the record. Gerry Lindgren ran 840 indoors on a very small crappy track. That is a Very impressive mark. He'd be tough to beat.

In hypothetical xc race I have Ritz

2 mile lv - this one in very confident in. No one is even close.

Could others take it. Sure! Would be great to see these races.

A 3:53 miler that was also good at XC like Webb, could have run at least 8:25.

Ritz also ran 13:44 at USAs the summer after HS, just missing Lindgren's record. I am surprised no one has run faster given the conversions.

I would not count Nico out. HS kids run faster today. 7:56 already converts to 8:32. Especially with company in the first half or more, he could at least run under 8:35 with a chance at the record.

And Ritz who was 3rd behind bekele and a monster at xc should've ran faster than 841 for 3200m. He didn't.

Ok I'll be less snippy. Yes Webb could've run faster. 825.. hmm.. I don't know considering he got absolutely rocked by Ritz in xc... Twice.

I know what the conversion is. But it's a bit of speculation.

Also whoever had Centro in top 6 for 2 mile. No.

He ran a great 2 mile in our modern era. And more than 6 people are faster than him.

Also. Jeff Nelson anyone? Lol. He ran 836 what, 40 years ago? No one broke 840 forever after that. To not even show up in this convo is kind of funny.

Yeah 756 is monstrous. And I'd love to see him crush an 830. I do hope he cleans up his form as I think it'll help injury prevention going forward. He is one hell of a runner and I wish him the best. And I think he would be up there with the all these hs greats in an xc race.

Nico won the National championships with complete domination against one of the best HS fields ever. His senior season was perfect on paper and to the eye. Breaks a HS national record - 13:39.

Then he backs up his fitness in February running a 7:56 3000m. That 3000m was not his cross Country season, but proves his fitness being the best ever.
