Dogs are so overrated. They're totally put on a pedestal by humans. Think of how humans gemerally treat dogs--like royalty versus how they treat other animals--like dirt. Why? I think dogs make a lot of humans feel good because dogs are able to convey and associate emotions better than other animals since they've become domesticated.
Humans are also likely to overcompensate when guessing a dogs emotions and sympathize with a dog for that reason. Funny thing is, humans generally disregard the emotions of other animals. This is primarily because we have no idea at all what emotions others animals are feeling because they simply can not convey emotions on the same level as dogs. However, this is not really a legitimate reason to prop dogs up over other animals, in fact, it's rather discriminatory towards other animals. No humans care about animal discrimination though. And if we dont care about something, we ignore it.
Also, the whole idea of loyalty for a dog is BS. Why is the dog perceived as loyal? The dog does not really have a choice whether or not to be loyal to an owner who gives the dog a royalty treatment. Who wouldn't be loyal to someone who gave them everything? Of course the dog is going to like some one who treats them well. Humans are the same way, in most cases.
Our brains are more sophisticated and that sometimes works against us. A dog has a pea brain in comparison. A dog does not have to deal with anticipation or anxiety or wonder about problems all day. The dog lives in the moment and has an easy life where a servant/owner gives the dog fulfillment of all needs.
Did I mention the royalty treatment? Sounds like the life of a king to me. I suggest people give more empathy towards other animals who need it rather than focusing on dogs. You're not special because you have a dog. Anyone can get one. Stop blasting it all over people's social media and try to work on yourself for a change.
