The cameras when they show the faces are fine but they don't really add anything to the meet. .
The idea for Block Cam came from IAAF Productions Creative and Live Director Westbury Gillett, who felt the audience was missing a crucial moment of the drama by not being able to see the athletes’ faces at the start of sprint races.
“Traditional camera positions only showed the top or side of their heads as they took their marks,’’ Lord explained. “The new cameras within the blocks will capture that intense moment just before a race. Seiko has done a brilliant job of bringing this to life.”

anyone saying there's nothing wrong or suspicious. would you like someone at your work to come stare at you from a foot away? or put a camera in your face and record?
I s’pose they had a different camera crotch mounting scheme for the men versus the women.
While it’s normal operating procedure for the men, surely the women complained because they just aren’t used to running with something dangling between their thighs.
the athletes should bring some painter's tape or masking tape to the blocks and place it over the camera lens. For a more permanent solution a dremel would be useful.
It’s weird that the women and men wear different attire. Why don’t the women wear longer shorts?

i wonder what specifically the woman athletes feel uncomfortable with
Probably the fact that some shots are right up between their legs!
Good point.. wrote:

Is this your first time viewing an Athletics meeting? Women and men have always worn slightly different attire. Each nation gives their athletes a selection of tops, bottoms , warmers etc They can wear what they wish.

It's a totally fair request for the athletes to have input on the camera angles. There are some swim organizations that don't allow filming of swim starts from behind the blocks for the exact same reason. If you need more evidence to build the athletes' cases, search for threads on here about women's bundies.
Damn right it wasn't a good idea.
It was a great idea!
You're running around in your underwear and then get bent out of shape when somebody actually takes a closer look?

As a dad with two young girls, I can say without a doubt you're gross.
Wear longer shorts like men and Castor if you feel objectified. Don't think their clothes have slowed them down. Salazar would have had Rupp in a sports bra and speedo if that was the case to run faster.
Any sprinter or other athlete, German or not, has the option to dress more modestly. What she wore was her choice. The IAAF nor Doha organizing committee told her to wear 'skimpy' clothing.
