The Lets Run podcast is one of the best things in Athletics. Thank God someone is putting some stories into this sport, without it, it's just a bunch of times read on a website.
I can understand why as a Dad you're going to stick up for your son, you should do. Big respect for it. However, for athletics fans (i.e. the people that buy the shoes and tickets that pay your son), it's good to have some opinion on this.

I believe in Christian’s innocence of any PED accusations. Your son, however, really needs to take this as a serious warning never to jeopardize his career and more importantly his reputation. He is not above the rules of the game, even though those rules may seem inconvenient to him.

1) you declare your whereabouts at the beginning of the quarter for each day for the next 90 days.
2) if you didn't file you get a strike against you from the filing date.
3) if you did file, and were not where you said you would be, you get a strike from the missed date.
4) you get 2 such violations per 12 month period. A 3rd gets you a ban.
It's really that simple. Two strikes is not an out!
Right. According to the rules, Coleman had three violations in a 12 month month and one day period. Why would anyone have a problem with that?
Sadly this situation reflects the state of Athletics vs. PED's over the past 40+ years. Frequency of testing is no guarantee of drug free performance since the cheaters have found ways to skirt the testers. Unfortunately, drug free athletes are often lumped with the cheaters despite of their honest performances. Adamant denial is met with raised eyebrows, cheater or not.
I have no idea which side of the argument Christian Coleman is on. If he is clean, it is unfortunate he triggered this inquiry which will now haunt his every performance by cynical fans and press. As a father, I can only imagine the anger and frustration of having to defend your son's reputation in such matters. Since the issue has been resolved and CC will compete in Doha, my advice would be to ignore the backlash as much as possible. The phrase, " Me thinks he doth protest too much" seems appropriate.

Well, I probably wouldn't actually say it to his face, but I'd say it to myself alone in my parent's basement bathroom. That I would do.
Lol. Just lol. Your kid missed three tests in a year. He did get off on a loophole (that will be closed now). Sure, he’s passed a lot of drug tests. But so have a lot of dopers. Lance Armstrong never failed a drug test. And think of someone like Asbel Kiprop. You really think he was doping just when he was popped?
With it being so easy to update your whereabouts, there’s no reason to miss three tests in a year. Unless you’re glowing.
He’s lucky that the sport is a clown show.

I'm with Rojo on this one. I'll forever think of Christian Coleman as a drug cheat unless he can prove every day he's not. I know he didn't actually get caught (yet) using drugs but just missing the test 3x in 1 year, cough cough I mean 14 months makes him a drug cheat in my mind.

Anyway Dad, drug testing is a joke. Always has been. It's just a PR exercise.
The plasma banks draw twice a week, including a little blood. I gave hundreds of times during the recession.
