social justice warriors at it again...
if it's not one thing, it's certainly the next...
I couldn't imagine undermining ANYBODY going out for a race, run, whatever their desired venture is. I 100% support runners of all backgrounds, and body types to go out and run. Every sport favors a specific body type, that's not some made up thing in the social media era. Elite runners are typically smaller framed, yet very strong relative to their bodyweight, and have incredibly efficient running economies, with a frame to support that. There are anomalies, but by and large, most top end runner's frames fall under the classic "runner build."
Even by hobby jogger standards, if you look at a 18 min 5k runner vs the 28 minute 5k runner, there is likely an experience factor, and a body weight to strength ratio there that is very visible in their frame or stride, baring any medical conditions affecting their heart or breathing with asthma.
It's exhausting to keep up with all this bs though. It really is. Running is whatever you want it to be. Running for some folks, just comes at a faster clip, and their bodies respond well to it. Genetics are a real factor too. I encourage all runners to get out there and embrace it, but for the love of god, stop with all this nonsense, and pity articles. As much as we're alike, we're all very different, that's life.
