Well actually i was interested in finding out more on whether the mechanism of running injuries were similar to that of muscle building where it gets stronger after breaking down and giving it a rest .

The holy grail is to run less mileage . Only enough what it takes to compliment your workouts to reach your goal.

The holy grail is to run MORE mileage. The more you run, the stronger you become. That reduces the chances of injury.
