The OP's question was about the top ten fastest marathoners, which has the considerable advantage of some level of objectivity, assuming that we're looking at PBs/PRs. (I'm still uneasy about including times on courses that were aided or otherwise not record-eligible.) As I suggested earlier, Clarence DeMar would be an obvious candidate for one of those other kinds of lists.
There's also an issue about who is considered to have been an "Ivy League student," which could suggest participation in or eligibility for Ivy League competition, generally as an undergraduate. For example, I believe that Richard Nerurkar was an undergraduate at Oxford, and a graduate student at Harvard, but I'm not aware of his participation in or eligibility for Ivy League competition. (Personally, I don't care about Ivy League competition.)
