My time from last year was 1:57.4, so I think this is a good guess. I’m trying to PR this year.
Are your track workouts better than last year?
That help you predict your 800.

Lol because of the 6 min rest. That’s a lot of rest so yes that’s why I said 2:09. I’ve seen several 2:08-2:11 high guys do that workout. This was our staple 800m workout. Granted, later on in the season the 2:08-2:11 guys went 1:59-2:04.x
It was 4 minute rest. I'm not a coach but I still can't fathom how you think running 75% of an 800m at RACE PACE for one rep and then coming back and running significantly faster for other reps makes any sense. I ran a 1:57 a year ago, I haven't ran as slow as you're suggesting since I was a freshman in high school. If I ran a 600 right now I wouldn't be shocked if I ran a 1:24-1:25. If you had a 1:54 runner, would you expect them to do this workout in 1:25, 1:10, 54, 40, 26, and 39?? That workout would be impossible for a 1:54 runner and after their 600 rep they would be gassed for the rest of the workout. I don't understand your logic at all.
I actually would expect that. We had 4 guys who did a similar workout (600-500-400-300-200-200) with 5 min rest after 600, then 4 min rest in between the rest who all ran 2:00-2:05 low and 600 in 1:26-1:28, 1:14-1:18, 59-61, 43-46, then 26-28, 26-28. They started at the beginning of outdoor 2:08-2:11 and ended the season with 2:00-2:05. The above workout was done about 4-5 weeks before state. It all depends on your background which you didn’t provide whether you’re speed-based or endurance based. A lot of times in those workouts if your endurance isn’t that good, the 600m rep usually ends up your 800m race pace. I gave a prediction off of very limited info you provided.

Last year in practice we would do 400s all out with 8-10 minute rest and the fastest I ever ran in practice was a 57.
