100th best qualifier in the Ws 400 in D3 last year was in the 58s
So there are probably another 75-100 capable of running that who didn’t try to qualify (800/1500 runners)
It ain’t that fast

She sounds like Wharton material
Why do people have to be top 100 in the country (or some ridiculous standard) to be considered fast here? South of 95% of girls can’t crack 75 in a 400m WITH training.
57 is fantastic and without a doubt extremely talented. I doubt there are even that many pro soccer, rugby, basketball women players who run that fast.
2 things:
1. Of course she didn't run a 57. All high school times are on athletic.net these days.
2. Who cares? Don't call her out on it until after you've boned.
If she’s a nice girl, her 400 m time doesn’t matter.

I just don't know if I could ever have a serious relationship with a girl if she hasn't broken 60 for the 400m.
(ok, a little bit of sarcasm)

I understand that you were joking, but I am kind of in a similar situation. I don't really see myself with someone that doesn't run. Obviously, they don't need to meet some standard that I come up with (such as sub 60), but finding a girl that shows a little intensity when it comes to running is important for me.
OP here,
So the other night a lot of us were hanging out and doing work in the lounge when someone brought up track. I immediately saw this as an opportunity for me to call the girl out without offending her. When the topic came up I said "________ runs a 57 second 400" and from there the conversation went on. From there I transitioned to the time in question by casually mentioning that all of our high school times were online, so I was going to check them out. When I said this she said something along the lines of "I don't think those times would be on there." and it was very nonchalant and she didn't seem nervous that she made up a time or anything. When I brought up her profile she saw the 70 second 400 she said something about how slow that time was and how embarrassed that her good times weren't there. She then searched up my track profile and we talked for a bit and then the topic of conversation became unrelated to running.
After everything that happened, I think that her time is legit but was wondering if anyone else wanted to offer their 2 cents.
Even though I believe her, I think eventually I am going to ask her if she wants to run an easy mile or something with me. I understand that running easy miles for a 400 runner is probably not very indicative of their speed, but some things I will be looking for are overall athleticism and good form. After that, I won't be questioning anything about her times again.

Without offending her? You deliberately tried to embarrass her. You were the one who disclosed her claims and you were the one that suggested it could be confirmed, or not, online. If it's a big deal to you, you should have asked her about her times privately.
stay away from people who lie about their times. Lying about something as trivial as track and field times is indicative of pathological behavior.
As I said before, if she’s a nice girl, her 400 time doesn’t really matter.
Maybe she’s into you and just wanted to impress you ? Maybe she was that good ? Who knows ?
On the other hand, I can see why lying about times would bother you.
Tldr version:
Guy shows interest in hot girl. Hot girl shows intest in guy. Girl finds her way in to guys dorm room one night. While they are alone, he calls her a liar about her track times. Girl leaves. Later, girl again finds her way in to guys dorm room. While they are both alone, late at night, all he can think of is her track times, wondering if she has good running form. Girl leaves. Guy marries his male dorm roommate

I run track at a D3 college and am pretty passionate about the sport. A few weeks back, my friend (on the track team and a year older) and I were talking in the residence halls about training. While we are standing in the hall, a girl who I find pretty attractive (my grade) walks past us and then asks me if I run track. My friend and I stopped talking so I could have a brief conversation with her as she walked by. I said "yeah, I do" then I asked if she did, to which she replied yes. I asked what distance and when she said 400 I then guessed her time to be about 65 seconds assuming she probably was about average. When she replied "57" my friend and I were both pretty amazed and told her that she should get in contact with the coach. She kind of brushed us off before saying bye and then my friend and I returned to our conversation.
The other night, a ton of us were studying in the common area for exams coming up and I had to stay up until midnight. By that time, pretty much everyone had left the lounge except me and a few others. The lounge has glass windows so I can see everyone else that walks outside of it. The girl and I always say hi to each other but I never learned her name. I saw her walking outside the windows and I waved, after that, she walked into the lounge and began talking to me, asking my name, etc.
We end up talking for an hour and a half about mostly track along with some other stuff but the thing I am most intrigued by is her story. She told me she met often with a private coach and worked her times down from 75, to 70, to 68, and then unofficial times of 65 to 61 and then eventually 57. When we spoke she definitely seemed to know her stuff about track, times, injuries, etc.
Today I looked at her times and they match up with her athletic net and milesplit times at the invitationals she said she was at, but there are no recorded online times of her going under 70 in a meet. I am assuming that she is telling the truth but those times seem way too fast to be done during practice and the improvement was also really quick (within about a year from 75 to 57). Is there any chance that this girl is telling me the truth or is she embellishing to make conversation?
She ran 67 seconds.

She ran 67 seconds.
She explicitly said 57
Classic little white lie to attract a boy she has deemed worthy.
Run boy run.
As someone else already said, if she's already willing and able to lie about something as trivial as this - AND to continue it by brushing it off - she'll lie about lots of other things.
Plus, if you're trying to call her out on it, it appears you want to humiliate her in some way by showing her who's boss.
Dude - just move along - not worth this kind of drama. Also, there's no need to humiliate someone who is sad enough to make up a lie about running sub 60 in the 400m.
