This thread is nuts. I don’t think the article meant anything by it. I don’t think running is all white. That’s a bogus claim. I’m Black by the way. Distance running in America is overwhelmingly white. That’s not a bad thing that’s just facts. Black Americans tend to do 100-800 m. I don’t know if it’s a racism thing. There are tons of 1:45 Black dudes that could go sub 4 in the mile or maybe move up to the 5 K. There are a bunch of white dudes that could move down to the 800 m too instead of 1500/5/10. Black Americans see Black sprints and mid distance Runners do well so they do it. That’s all the article is saying. I don’t get all this Jew anti white racism stuff. Y’all taking this too seriously.

That's not what they're saying. They're saying that, generally, recreational runners tend to be white & tend to have more comfortable incomes. That should be the main takeaway here. For whatever reason, good or bad, that's who is attracted to distance running. When you look at training, sure, anyone can put on shoes and run. But shoes are expensive. Races are expensive. Traveling to race is expensive. Folks want to go to some huge race in a big city to snap some IG pictures. That can add up real quick to make that happen. Then if you look at the way the US was set up and who started off with money and who didn't it shouldn't be surprising that white folks tend to fit into this grouping.

Just gotta keep investing in youth running programs and give people a reason to train after high school. It'd be cool if there were more sprint opportunities after college. A 5k race is a dime a dozen every weekend. There really isn't much incentive to go to the track at age 25-35 and train for the 800m & down if you're not a pro.

Yes, there were one or two posters that got carried away with some Jewish angle conspiracy whatever. Most of us just ignore it and move on. Most of the other poster have simply been pointing out how silly it is to criticize a particular hobby just because white people participate in that hobby more than other groups. Just consider for second how absolutely INSANE it would be so say something like "dominoes is a great game, but it still isn't perfect. Black participation in dominoes is vastly overrepresented." Nobody in this country is too poor to run if my college roommate, a Kenyan who grew up in a mud hut one room house with about 10 siblings, managed to do it. He also managed to become a professional runner, support his entire family back home with the meager money he earned in the USA early on, help his brother to become a professional runner, became an American citizen legally, and went on to earn a PhD in a difficult subject.

Non-whites have every opportunity to run in this country if they want to. They are either choosing not to or are too lazy to. I don't think even 1% that they are lazy, and there's nothing wrong with people choosing to do something else with their free time. So I don't get how running is somehow an 'imperfect' sport because non-whites choose to participate in other activities.

The NYT is trying to write another article to divide us and pit us against each other. Don't let it happen.

They also dominate crimes and welfare lines.

The NYT is the trashiest publication in the world.
