The "outer loop" runs on the outside of the grass. The inner loop is paved and runs on the inside of the grass right next to the putrid lake. The outer loop is ~3.2 miles, but definately a tad bit over 5k. If you look closely someone painted mile markers in green right next to the curb if you are running counter-clockwise.
I used to run there for at least part of my run every day. The outer loop is definitely close to 5k. I used to run one loop, pop off and do a mile on the dirt track, another loop, another mile on the track, etc. Assuming the lake was 5k and timing it (extrapolating the pace), it almost always matched up with the pace I would hit on the track.
Definitely more than 3.0 but not likely to be more than 3.2
Does anyone know if that track is actually 400m? I had some killer interval workouts there that I was never able to match...I always suspected it was a tad short...
It is closer to 440 yards than 400 meters.
The track is exactly 400m, I had measured it with the wheel. Also the inner loop is exactly 4500m (2.8 miles), but markers are off by several yards.
Does anyone know how long is the outer loop if you extend it around the playfields? I never had time to measure it...- I had estimated it to be 6400m long (4miles)
I live a 1/2 mile from thelake but rarely run the path and almost never a full loop around the lake. Lower Woodland is the Running Gods' gift with every type of hill/surface combo you could ever want. I also avoid that track like the plague, it is crowded, pounded and rutted and trashes your legs. When I see people grinding around that ridiculous pit or the lake, it makes me wonder how far removed humans are genetically from cows or sheep or other stockyard mammals.
