Yeah...sure, how many HS kids can run those times in the 800 on up? ? I bet on a percentage basis around 10% - 15% of all 1600 meter runners can muster a 4:39 or better. Similar percentages for the other times. This ain't Kenya where fast HS-age kids come a dime a dozen. Give the kids some credit - 4:39 is fast and not easy to do. Those times posted are very fast for the average HS dude.
Here in Ohio, those time won't even get you out of the sisteictbti the regional meet. So, we have three divisions, 16 districts each, top four move on, so at least 192 kids run faster than those times each year in Ohio, probably more. Hardly elite. If you can qualify to state you are sniffing elite. The top quarter at state ate elite. Do, that's like 12 boys on each distance. Sub 1:55, sub 4:20, and sub 9:20 I'd say.
