Torres is more accomplished than any of these guys. This is simply non-negotiable. He's won NCAA XC, was a 5000 finalist at the World Track Championships and just a few weeks ago opened up his season with a 13:20. Ritz is in Torres' league, but he still hasn't done what his fellow Buffalo has.
Opened up his season with a 13:20? I distinctly remember Jorge opening up his season with a 13:22 to 13:30 loss to Dathan Ritzenhein, his fellow buff.
placing third at a world cross x-country championship meet, qualfying for the Olympics, and winning a prestigoius international x-country meet all by the age 22 doesn't compare to Jorge.
How is Alan Webb both a 'young athlete' and a 'veteran'??

You're right. My bad. All I'm saying is that Torres is again healthy and running well, just like he did in 2003. And when you look at what he's accomplished in just a few short years, he's still a step ahead of everyone else.
Torres is indeed very accomplished. The 13:20 was not a season opener, by the way.

Who knows why Torres doesn't fit into Vipam's always-stating-the-obvious views? I guess to get the attention Vipam lacks and needs Vipam has to start mundane posts with the flavors of the minute in the subject line. I'm still trying to figure out what value Vipam contributes here.
Bumbi is a great runner but the runner in Tennessee with the most talent/potential is Rob Sorrell of Arlington, a jr. who ran 4:12 last week and who as a senior next year will surpass anything that Bumbi has done.

I agree.
I wonder how it is that starting these ridiculous threads (Ritz and the three musketeers! Yay US! Rupp will break 27! Ethiopians rule!) can qualify as worthwhile discussion.
I now await Vipam's protestation that it's the same person always bashing him.
For the record Vipam, it isn't. I know for a fact that there are numerous people who cringe whenever they see a new fantastical "discussion" you try to start and then arrogantly presume yourself to be knowledgeable.
If you were ever called on all the predictions you have made wrong, watch out.
Didn't Bumbi as a junior run 8:49 to beat most of the country's best distance runners? Sorrell at 4:12 is good, but not that good.
I agree with you re Rup. He has been in university all of two months now...and he beat all of the Kenyans except for Lagat\'s little brother...who sat on him for 5 miles. The kid really reminds me of Lindgren, Pre and Mills. He has the guts of Kuts and the chutzpah of Zatopek. I met him last week in Eugene...unassuming and unpretentious...but look at the battle face last night! I just wish he had \'a kicked shit out of Cheserat. Nothing against Chezaret...I like his remarks vis a vis when he thought he was going to win...but I look forward to seeing a young American dominate the omnisient African. Maybe ruP will do it!
Q
Idiot groupie.
qucassidy
I wanted Galen to win the title myself and he put it all on the line and regretfully came up short. The kid is an amazing runner and will be battling the Ethiopians (Africans) for a medal in future Olympics. Amazing isn't it qucassidy that posters complain that I worship Africans and then when I post positive things about Americans I'm jumping on a bandwagon.
The "stalking" NEGATIVE FAN (ever changing poster name) of mine ask, "how can Alan be a newcomer and veteran". If you don't know the answer to that pick up the book Track and Field for Dummies because you definitely need it and wipe you noise before you go into town. Alan Webb is the newcomer and Alan Culpepper is the veteran, you went from sorta annoying to TOTAL LOSER (not even worth replying to anymore).
I still say again Dathan will eventually break the American record and run sub 27 minutes but the record eventually will rest with Galen Rupp by the end of their careers.
Yeah, ever since Bumbalough smoked Kiptoo in last year's Arcadia 2-mile, I've wanted to seem him pitted against some more of the best. Can't wait to see how he does at G-Town.
