Whats courtney frerichs 9:01 3,000 steeplechase worth in the 2 mile?
Salazar was working out at LSU when Oregon came down for a week. 3x1200 with a 400 rest. His splits were 3:02 , 3:01 , and 2:57. He can surely run faster than a 57 400.

Alberto Salazar 400m pr is only 57 seconds.
I've also heard that about Salazar, but find it hard to believe. He ran the equivalent of 4:00 which would mean he slowed down by 3 seconds per lap. I was a strength runner, but slowed down by 7 seconds per lap.
Al Sal did way over 100 mpw for years, lots of it hard. Did you?

For men you can add 5-10 seconds, but obviously Frerich can't run 9:11 or faster. Maybe 25 seconds?

Damn.
Give her a shot at 9:20.

I doubt the accuracy of all these 60 plus 400m claims. If the last time one was asked to race a 400m relay leg was 8th grade, and you guys raced 3200m in 11th or 12th grade in 9:20+ then these claims are partially honest. If I recall in most high school meets, the last three events are: 200m, 3200m then 4x400m. Once a track & field coach makes a runner a 3200m specialist there is no long an opportunity to realize one's 400m potential.
+1. I always get a chuckle out of these threads. Guys bragging about running shorter distances like a pu55y and trying to use the excuse of no talent.
Clearly its 8:00 running 60 seconds per lap

An old timer that had run for Bob Larsen at Grossmont College told me his h.s. prs were something like 60/2:05/9:05. He did say that he couldn't have run any faster if his life depended on it.
Rick Rose?
Bill Cleves?
I went to school with a guy who could not get close to 60 seconds, and he ran 9:08.
49.6, 9:11 2 mile in HS

I never broke 60 but I ran a 9:24. I had big dreams at the time so I was disappointed with my 9:24, but looking back, it seems like quite an acheivment for someone with such slow leg speed.
Did any of you with 60-fleet speed top my time.
Never Broke 60-- 2:05.6 1/2 Mile/ 9:22.4 2-Mile/ 4:26.7 Mile in HS (1975/1976).
I'm coaching a kid who has only ran a 64, 9:18 3200 though.
My friend in HS was a 60, 2:08, 9:21 guy senior year
You should have been racing the 10k-marathon. Sure hope you ran in college.

I ran 14:50 and 30:50 in college but both times were early in the season. I was really coming on in practice and might have improved to mid 14 and low 30 but was stopped by a bizzare injury and never ran seriously after that.
