... the Cavu lacks the pop you'd expect from a firm forefoot. In short, I don't like the Cavu as a slow or a tempo/interval shoe. I had to adjust my stride to land more on my heel to avoid the lack of forefoot cushion in the Cavu. I don't have this problem with the Huaka, Clayton1 or my new Napalis.
I did my first run in the Napali yesterday. It has noticeably more cushion than the Cavu and is more like the Huaka. I haven't done a track or tempo in the Napali yet, but just from a few strides, I can tell I'll like it more than the Cavu.
Interestingly, the Cavu is so firm it works as a trail shoe, provided the trail can be run with a smooth-soled shoe.
