For the average person with no background in running it is a dream, goal or whatever you want to call it. I am 47 and qualified by 11 minutes in my debut after picking up running four years ago. I was not a runner until I decided to try to see my 60’s. Fat, slow, out of shape. A lot of niggles and injuries as I ramped mileage. Can anyone do it, if they commit to getting there I believe they can. Easy, absolutely not and you have to be consistent for years not months . Hard for an average person to do as life gets in the way
I will not disrespect a parent putting a few miles in a day or a four or five hour marathoner. I was lucky and dumb enough to plow through things I shouldn’t have. In the end, I enjoy a nice hard run in good weather and probably will not stop. I enjoy all the seasons and running, learning about myself and the time to think and enjoy being outside. A lot of people run or jog for other reasons than s BQ
I get this. I may never BQ but I'm not going to stop trying. My coach at CRC really put it in perspective: Running is a process, and there will be ups and downs. Have fun, keep training and enjoy learning about the sport, he said.
