Not sure on the full story mate but Kenneth was a barber and didnt start running until his early 30s when some runners would come in for haircuts and finally convinced him to train with them..

This is a great thread because it is about PERFORMANCES. 35 yr old Hall and 44 yr old Mungara. They are both heroes.
I wish this was the standard for all future threads. Can you imagine if there were no future threads about Linden, Flanagan, Goucher, Ritz, Ryan Hall, or any other runner that is done performing? That would be great. The standard should be RUN WELL AND WE TALK ABOUT YOU. Stop living in the past. Anything other than performance is embarrassing and does nothing to move the sport down the road.

Desi and Shalane are just hanging on? When is the last time Sara Hall won a major marathon? I'm happy for her, but come on now.
Might be searching for a major championship, but she takes the podium Sunday-Sunday in the looks department. It all balances itself out.

If anyone watched the last 10 minutes of the men's race you will know how crazy it was. Mungara and Murayama appeared to be battling each other until Fukuda came from 19 seconds back at 35k to join them at 40k. Murayama then started wobbling over the road having stomach issues and vomited with like 1k to go, Mungara started moving away from Fukuda but Murayama came back with a furious sprint and only just was held off. The 3 guys finished within 3 seconds of each other, all went sub 2:10, Murayama PB'd by 7 minutes (he is a sub 61 half man at his best, but his first two marathon's didn't go to plan) and Fukuda PB'd by 5 minutes
Amazing performance by a 44 year old. Just makes me realize how slow I am compared to the true elites in the 40-44 male AG.

If Mungara watches that back he'll be surprised at how close Murayama got.
