I am not one to get overly concerned about NCAA rules (which, by the way, I find to be ridiculous in many cases). However, the case of performance enhancing substances goes beyond rules and to the very heart of sport. The NCAA meet an opporunity for young men and women to represent their schools by putting their bodies--the product of a lifetime of hard work and training--up against each other in fair competition. Every athlete should have the right to know that no matter where they place, they pushed themselves to their absolute limit and were beaten by athletes who did the same, not by athletes who took the easy route; who falsely amplified their own abilities. Perhaps, by the letter of the law, a test conducted in Jamaica is not valid in the NCAA. I, for one, feel that the moral integrity of sport is more important than the bylaws of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

This from Mike Nemeth of Miss. State:

the NCAA's testing, to my knowledge, is completely random. There are plenty of athletes who go seasons without being tested. There is no proof that Mullings has been tested by the NCAA. I repeat, NCAA's testing is RANDOM.

I'm not putting my name to a "document" that contains typos, grammatical, and factual mistakes. Rojo and Wejo are graduates of two of the better universiities in this country, but still cannot write to save their lives. Guys, do yourselves a favor and clean up your act. If you want people to take you seriously then make sure you come across as polished and professional. Your days of getting by on youthful enthusiasm are behind you. It's time to grow up. You are in the real world now.

If you want to take on institutions and organizations then make sure you are up to the task.

where was the petitions for nebraska's thrower from britian... wasn't he over here in college because he was suspended from international competition as well... i don't recall this outcry then... or at least to this extent.

Rojo - When was the last time you kicked one of your athletes off the team / out of school for underage drinking. I do believe that NY State law states you must be over 21 to legally drink. Do you expect us to believe that not one under-age athlete at Cornell drinks?????? THAT would be a FIRST in the history of college athletics.

Wejo & Rojo....I'm feeling left out!!! Why haven't you started a petition regarding me lying about my citizenship status at the Athens Games? I think you should start a campaign to have my medal taken away. You should give equal time to the distance running cheats. Stop picking on the sprinters.

I agree wholeheartedly with the purpose of the editorial and petition, but PLEASE Wejo & Rojo, PLEASE go through the editorial and fix any grammar/spelling errors. Just off the top of my head, you spelled you "yo" and Mississippi is spelled "Missippi" at one point.

People will take it a lot more seriously if these and a few other mistakes are corrected.

god that petition last year was the biggest bunch of bull. at least this one makes a little more sense. louie didn't do anything wrong. if you don't like the rules, don't shoot the people who are abiding by them.
