I've been asking myself that question for 43 years.
I don't seem to spend much on anything else.

Stay off the internet sites that are selling shoes!
I too have about three pairs of brand new running shoes that are still in the box. All factory seconds from Brooks truckload sales. They have two sales a year near where I live. I haven't gone to the last two sales (Oct '17 & Apr '18) as I don't need to buy anymore. My biggest fear is that they will sit in the box too long and the midsoles will breakdown. If so, they will just become non-running shoes for mowing the lawn and walking the dog!
That doesn't happen, does it (the midsoles break down)? There was a discussion on another messageboard it was thought that with the modern advancements in foams and such, that doesn't really happen anymore, atleast not until like 10 years or more.
Only asking because i've got my share new in box in the closet as well.
TIA
I hope that you are correct! By the way Seattle Prattle, the Brooks Outlet shoe sales in Bothell (Canyon Park) are the truckload sales I'm referring to. Very good deals and also good deals on some clothing.
Step 1: Admit you are powerless over it and that your live has become unmanageable.
There are twelve more steps, but start there.
Thanks guys. I might just accept my fate and buy what I want.

yeah, i know. Thanks, i bought from them a brand new Glycerin 14 in the box, waiting it's turn with other new shoes. And i got a pair of the Cadence 5 also, that i have about a hundred miles on. A great sale, though in the spring the date is too close to the Boston Marathon weekend and i miss it (which may not be such a bad thing given how many pairs of shoes i have amassed).

Lots of good shoes on discount right now. I want to buy them, but definitely don't need them. My rationale is that I will need them at some point, so just buy them why they are cheap. I also like to try brands/styles that I have not tried before.
I can't be the only one with this problem. How do I stop myself from buying them?
I have this problem too I have about 20 pairs of pristine shoes hidden around my house including 10 pairs of my favourite minimalist shoes that I can’t wear any more because they made me injured.
I even forcibly buy extra shoes for my partner
Please send help. Some of the shoes are 4 years old when does the foam break down?
I am still stocking up!!
buy chainsaw.
apply liberally to feet.
repeat as needed.

Work for a shoe company and get them for free
Just get married. That will stop the problem.
